I like Ross but can he not make a single video without sounding like such a fucking downer? He is literally pissing on his own parade singe the beginning, and it is very demoralizing to listen to. He should be hyping people up, not blackpilling them all along the way. Just fucking awful way to lead anything. He really needs to hand this over to someone with an iota of leadership qualities.
the man has been thinking this initiative was DOA for nearly a year at this point so I understand his skepticism on this actually happening. plus I think if he was like "we did it guys, but I need more signatures" rather than being realistic people will just rest on their loreals.
I do agree he should probably hand it off to some other more European youtubers after a while, still be involved but let someone closer offhand some responsibilities to take some stress off and minimize things like cost if for example, this actual goes to a hearing in Brussels

he literally says his line of thinking is to take the worst possible outcome, it's just how he is.
so i assume you haven't seen his GN interview where he says that and i'll call you a nigger for not doing that.

Such as?
You can inform us on the back door into messaging apps but it's somewhat moot, there's ways around that shit (which is kind of like what we want to see come from the SKG initiative).
We just want OPTIONS available to us. CS:S, Battlefield 3, classic Battlefront, Doom, Dawn of War and others all have ways to keep being played. Community servers or direct IP connection (which Dawn of War broke in lieu of Steamworks to counter piracy because they're niggers) is all I want this shit to be capable of. Or at least a similar alternative of setting up your own shit to support MP. If it takes the EU having to twist an arm then why not have the government work in our favor for once?

This guy has no idea what he is talking about. WoW private servers are built on server cores that are built entirely from scratch by reverse-engineering, there is no code from Blizzard. What is he even talking about when he says "require handing over copyrighted code"? All they are doing is using the game binaries and network analysis of live servers, no Blizard code needed at all. There are no laws against building a WoW private server by reverse-engineering the game for that matter.

He's just stating the facts of the matter. I didn't take his reaction as pessimistic at all, just telling people to err on the side of caution, which comes across as more humble imo.

He should be realistic, that I have no issue with. But the way you communicate things is important. If someone who leads an initiative is sending too many "we probably won't make it guys" messages, then why should I even bother trying to chip in? I am asking a theoretical question. I signed the petition, I got some friends to sign, too. But communication matters. It's probably why the initiative was doing so poorly until universal hatred for Mald helped the ball roll to the finish line.

I want this shit to succeed, big time. Hence I want Ross to be smarter about how he talks about things. He can be as pessimistic as he wants to be, but in a leadership role he should not share every single negative throught. It's just not a good move.

Incorrect.
