I can't see how he couldn't have enough saved up at this point to buy a 150-175k house unless he has been grossly financially irresponsible. That's a possibility I'm not ruling out, mind you.

By her own account, she was pursuing some dream to be a twitch gamer. Personally, I think the one-two hit of TB spending all their money and then dropping dead on her sent her into a spiral.
