I never saw Genna as particularly woke. She went along to get along, but there's that incident where she voted libertarian and TB blew a gasket at her for her "betrayal" of Hillary. She was also, if I recall right, silent about the whole trapgate thing.
I have a feeling Genna would have moved more and more towards woke as time went on, exactly because she was doing it to "get along". That's how a lot of people ended up falling off the edge these days, they just accepted what everybody else was saying because they didn't want to rock the boat.
Not that it matters much, though. Between possible true belief (they did have LKD as a guest on the podcast more than once, and defended him when people complained about the annoying voice) and being performatively woke for the sake of avoiding being canceled (trapgate felt really forced), TB was
very likely going to be a "trans ally".
By her own account, she was pursuing some dream to be a twitch gamer. Personally, I think the one-two hit of TB spending all their money and then dropping dead on her sent her into a spiral. I saw at least vague hints of a rebound relationship she chased over there, which I suspect ended badly (she totally fell down the stairs you guys, that's why her teeth got knocked out), and now she's going in circles. It's kind of sad.
Oof. Jesus. Yeah, that's not a good state to be.
Doubt it, but he'd likely be cancelled by now.
John had an arrogant streak about him and he didn't take criticism well. I don't think he would've handled the natural decline of his channel with any sort of grace.
There was a tweet by one of John's haters that was partially correct; John went after people his fans didn't care for. As such, they either didn't notice or didn't care who he was targeting. Eventually he would've crossed that line.
I'm not sure he would have been canceled outright, but yeah. On the one hand, he did mature quite a bit in his final years compared to when he had just started out. On the other hand, that arrogance never fully went away and the thin-skinned idiot never hired someone to manage his comments and social media.
Regardless, I think even if he did cop a canceling, most of his fanbase would still stick by him because he did produce interesting content with his WTF Is...? series. I can't imagine he'd be calling people niggers or doing anything that would warrant his income being removed, either. Most of the damage would be to his psyche, he cared to a way unhealthy degree about people's opinions on him as a person.
