If you know someone is the type to sue at the drop of a hat, it’s really not a good idea to lie about them
I am not even upset that Karl was wrong about something he pretty much made up with his retard friends on their Discord server.
They must have been tossing around idea for weeks. Right on the day the news of the suicide was shared a random user on the discord pitched the idea that "Billy has blood on his hands", and the echo chamber must have done the rest.
Predisposition to hate Billy + false info from dubious sources + echo chamber to toss around the same idea without it being challenged.
Being wrong under those circumstances is completely logical and understandable. It still should not happen, but I can follow along the logical chain of retardation here that lead to the defamatory statement.
What pisses me off the most is that Karl knew it was wrong, was told it was wrong, had plenty of time to settle this and yet he not only did not retract it in a manner that ensure that I, the viewer, saw that retraction (like pinning an exclusive video with the retraction as his Channel video on youtube, as a pinned post on Twitter etc.) he also did not apologize for the statement. He still has not apologized. He doubled down again, in court, claiming that his belief was unchanged, despite a lack of credible evidence.
Making a mistake is human.
Taking a week to acknowledge that you fucked up and jump over your own shadow to apologize I could also understand.
But about 40 months after making the false claim, sitting in court and telling a judge that despite your inability to prove your defamatory claim you still believe it to be correct, so that said judge can slap your dumb ass with a judgement of over 230000 $US (~380k $AU), that must be some kind of record breaking brain damage.
