Actually, the threat that made me take down the forum temporarily was towards an uncle. He was 1 year from a 20 year retirement with the Army and an OTH discharge due to me would have been unbearable to me so I took it down. I only brought it back up because the threats continued regardless unless I turned over the database.

You know in Canada guards aren't even supposed to touch you if you're robbing a place and if they make a citizens arrest they need to have their handcuff certificate and a few other documents or you can charge them for holding you illegally.

It's no different than someone going off and rigging their home with traps and wondering why their getting charged. Guard dogs are a deterrent, not a weapon. You want a weapon, weld it yourself. You can still protect yourself in the country as long as you don't kill someone.

By the way, States have different laws on this too.

It has taken on a life of its own on Twitter, the replies explaining it say it comes from how poorly feds fit in to online communities. It's true, but that isn't where it comes from.

I did not even notice that. Tallpoppy offers cybersecurity including ddos protection. This is a person who would have a lot to gain from cloudflare losing market share. He has a vested interest in at least two companies that are in direct competition with Cloudflare. How can you reasonably claim that you have no financial interest when both Honeycomb and Tallpoppy compete directly with the company that you are crusading against? You have to either be delusional or a liar.

There is no way that you can ethically claim that you have no financial interest in this when both you, and a romantic partner, have large stakes in a direct competitor. This is like Volkswagen claiming Tesla is unethical for having factories in China, running a seminar about how to trade in your Tesla for a Volkswagen and then claiming that they had no financial interest and they just wanted to do the right thing. I call shenanigans.

That being said, Tallpoppy looks like an lolcow company. An anti-online harassment company that features reviews from some of the oddest people, and their board looks exactly how you would expect a company run by twitter obsessed millennials to look. Zoe Quin and Anita are both somehow involved in this too?
