that's more cringe autism than medical autism, tho. they're a bit different.
I think we can all safely assume he has medical autism as well, going by his habits and inability to understand basic emotions. He lectured a suicidal woman for taking away Superman's precious time, and then had to walk it back because, as everyone pointed out, that was incredibly fucked up. But it never occurred to him until he posted the video that he might have been wrong.

i suppose it's possible. do any of us have a medical degree and a psychiatric certificate? it's the only way we'll know for sure. :P

There was also that cyberpunk Phantom cartoon.
I don’t totally remember, but did Phantom the cartoon come out before that Billy Zane movie where he’s in purple pajamas fighting pirates?

I rented the Phantom 2040 VHS from Kroger, I think? Big 2-hour slab of cyber-noir that aired on TV or something. I was, like, 9, so I hated it.

In hindsight, I think it kinda collapsed under its own world-building. You had this evil mega-corp run by a bunch of Dynasty villains doing shadow intrigue, and meanwhile the Phantom’s off doing... something? Probably some comparison to be made between the Maddisons in Phantom 2040 and the Meachums in that Iron Fist show.

The cartoon came out first then the Billy Zane movie came out right when the cartoon was going off the air.

I never really watched it when it came out because it looked weird but also the storyline was pretty heavy but looking back at it they had a good voice cast of established voice actors and others like Debbie Harry, Paul Williams and Richard Lynch. Honestly it's something that maybe I'd enjoy watching today if I could get past all the cheese.

From what I recall, the show was Blade Runner esque heavy on questions of humanity and soul. Cause one episode involved a android assassin with shapeshifting abilities, discovering humanity due to listening a blind jazz musician. There was also an episode of the main henchmen suffering from PTSD an wondering how much if his humanty is left, since he became a cyborg. Finally theres the main baddies "husband" that is either his conciense or AI, thus again going to the whole soul thing.

Yeah, the part that’s always burned into my memory is the end of the Phantom 2040 pilot, where it’s revealed that Maddison Senior is dead but his brain got poured into this giant supercomputer.

Final boss of the game adaptation is Maddison's giant head, real Andross-core.

Also, and this is maybe controversial among the 16 people who still think about this: I never got the love for the Phantom 2040 game. It's visually impressive in that very “1995 GamePro screenshot” way. Massive sprite work, but when you actually play it, it’s one of those games where your character is comically oversized, meanwhile the enemies are like ants and the sound is pure shit.

Ye an he later returns in a android body, but theres clearly issues with his memories as he remembers things in a wrong way or stuff that has long passed.

The game developers probably just got handed a vague napkin sketch of the show’s first couple episodes. Certainly, I had no idea where the plot was going, simply. "Maddison is bad probably”

But after doing the most shallow kind of research it turns out Maddison was actually a good guy? He was
trying to help the Phantom and meanwhile his wife went full Mr Freeze and kept trying to resurrect him using technology.
