Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

The build episodes are usually the best episodes, but this one shows flaws in the company I didn't know still existed.

-Linus is finally going to build all company computers to a similar spec to reduce logistics having to fix things (who seem to have become glorified gofers for every department)
-yet these computers will still be different
-they are using intel 12th gen because something about AMD Epyc having issues, which really feels more like an excuse to suck intel's dick for more free money
-despite trying to build computers all to the same spec some computers will be different based on GPUs for different departments
-they thought about doing prebuilts and were even quoted a competitive price from the Canadian equivalent of MicroCenter, but again it was decided to have wagey cagey logistics do it

I like this Dan guy in logistics but you can tell he's kind of hitting a wall in dealing with Linus doing stuff stupidly but will just do what gets him paid.

Oh, and of course Linus holds his super unique screwdriver on the thumbnail. Couldn't even wait for the first video frame to include it in view, let alone wait to show it when starting the build and shilling his store.

I wonder what Linus' expectations from the Project Farm episode were. It definitely helped a little bit with sales but nowhere near as much as the LTT main channel plugs. I guess the only market for these things is Linus fans.

The backpack got a little bit of love when the screwdriver dropped, but now it's barely selling at all. Given the lack of interest from PF viewers for the LTT screwdriver (PF video has 1,911,691 views, poor conversion rate),
PF watchers tend to be boomers that are interested in the tools that offer the best bang for buck, with many of them having a hateboner for anything made in China.

I wouldn't be surprised of many if his viewers had no idea who Linus was until a few days ago, and those that had heard of him might only know about him because their kids watch him.

Good thing Linus used the Taiwanese manufacturer that was recommended to him by Megapro, the company that designed his screwdriver. All the boomers won't have qualms about buying the best ratcheting screwdriver that Project Farm reviewed since Taiwan isn't part of the PRC. Oh wait, he dropped the Taiwanese manufacturer and used a Chicom manufacturer instead, presumably because they were slightly cheaper and because he has a lot of Chinese nationalists on staff.

1. BY INCREASE OF WATTAGE USE
2. BY INCREASE OF COST, AROUND 50% (or more) OVER THE PREVIOUS GENERATION.
3. EXPENSIVE DDR5

I recommend Tech Power up and Guru3d for your computer tech needs.
All true. Rumblings that the AMD 16-core sku will live at 85 degrees under load which is unacceptable.

In any case, probably best to wait for the platform to mature a bit. I'm sticking with 5000 series for the next few years for all reasons you mentioned and also because Intel is absolutely guilty of dumping obscene wattage into their current parts and the next release will be the end of the socket, so dead end. DDR5 will drop in price and boards will follow suit as well. And if 400-series chipsets taught us anything, better wait to see how the VRMs do before spending any money (lol, strix b450)

AMD shills also say that you can keep your board for multiple generations - that's bullshit. First gen boards JUST NOW got bios support for newer cpus. They could have done it any time in the last 3+ years, but chose not to and most people probably just dumped their expensive 3-series boards for pennies on the dollar and ate the cost of a new board. Don't even get me started on the USB dropout issues only recently fixed. Competition is good, but none of these companies are on our side. AMD has just been making better decisions for a bit and punched intel in the dick enough for them to get off their ass and improve their product. (LOL, 4790k was still competitive up to 8000-series parts)

Add Hardware Busters International to your youtube list. The guy behind it does all the PSU reviews for TechPowerUp and is building a PSU lab as we speak. Look earlier in the thread where i posted a link, he even takes shots at linus. He's a legit PHD bigbrain and i have a lot more faith in him than Linus' merry band of dipshits

Whats the obsession with ratcheting screwdrivers?
Well I've been a mechanic for 20+ years & they're actually fucking awesome.Especially for small fasteners & low torque applications.
I can guarantee 99% of these mouth breathing dickslurping simps never even heard of this tool before this nonsense started & only care cause of linu$ & probably think he invented the thing.

I've have Blacklisted GN and Hardware Unboxed for their complete slanted views OMITTING important facts about the NGreedia 3000 series of video cards.

Namely the massive amount of wattage increases to get those performance increases. I can not have my clients be falsely lead by omission of facts.

Every single large tech influencer omitted that fact during launch.

Yes both sites (GN,HU) do give out decent reviews on things but they omitted facts to push views and to be on Ngreedia graces at the time.

With the exception of Explaining Computers you really can not trust any YOUtube tech site.

As of this moment there has been almost Radio silence on price gouging of the X670 motherboards. and the few that are commenting are trying to deflect the issue by stating that "B" Series mother boards are for the masses.

THAT IS BULLSHIT by assholes who is sucking on AMD's Dick.

I've been buying X series motherboards since they first came out.

I know the fucking cost to them.

So I'm going to say this. It appears that you MAY get a maximum performance increase of 30+% in certain applications.

But what AMD and the fucking troons out there are not telling you that you are getting the performance increase

1. BY INCREASE OF WATTAGE USE
2. BY INCREASE OF COST, AROUND 50% (or more) OVER THE PREVIOUS GENERATION.
3. EXPENSIVE DDR5

They are also not telling you that there is a good chance you will be needing to REPLACE your PSU as well.

It really looks like I'm going Intel on my next upgrade.

I am not paying 600 dollars (tax and shipping) for a low end X670/CPU combo, when last 2 generations I only the MAX of $400.00

I can re use my DDR4 RAM and PSU with their upcoming (Intel) product

IMHO This is pure and simple price gouging and again and IMHO most of the are Youtubers are touchy feellie with AMD.

I recommend Tech Power up and Guru3d for your computer tech needs.
I have a 3080 12 gb card, and its great for work. But with the electricity price increase in some parts of Europe I cannot imagine anyone buying new 40 series graphic cards. Rumors about electricity consumption are insane. This can be a problem even for people with normal electricity prices. I thing that tech reviewers have a general tendency to recommend products that most people will not be able to take full advantage and it's just waste of money for them.

There sure are a lot of podcasts out there with .fm urls, who knew the Federated States of Micronesia was home to so many podcasters? Same deal with .tv, who knew so many people working in broadcasting live in Tuvalu, a Polynesian island in the Pacific Ocean, home to only 11,900 people? What a bunch of idiots.

I'd love to have faith in Gamers Nexus, but I just can't trust any YouTuber whatsoever. I'm sure Steve doesn't want the troon squad breathing down his neck.
The HW News vid dropped, and it seems that Steve did the galaxy brain move of not mentioning the situation as a news piece at all.

Well it was only time before Steve's lack of impartiality on something was discovered and pointed out. We can't all be perfectly unbiased and GN's marketing of being unbiased only puts them under stricter scrutiny.

I watched a bit of the last WAN show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ctXiZsN6ac

(((Linus))) says to people to not sent superchats but to send merch messages instead because yada-yada but at the same time he doesn't disable it.

Also, he got visibily mad that he wasn't put into the Forbes top creator list

I would clip the parts but KF is slow, so take a look at the timestamps on one of the first comments

Today, Linus and co shill Plex.

tldr - just use Jellyfin. Its free and supports most of the features of plex / plex pass.
I still need to switch. Plex is good enough but Jellyfin seems more powerful.

So Linus ad block is piracy, enjoys piracy when it isn't his content

Jellyfin is pretty good. If you want to stream outside your network, you can do it easily with nginx. You don't need a beefy machine unless you're transcoding either. An old celeron or athlon can do the job.

What i liked about that video was the comments, they are all just: "Plex sucks, use jellyfin", I bet the plex cucks are seething at the optics

Plex runs like shit on game consoles and goes insane if your library isn't exactly how it likes it. Problems I've had with Plex:
  • endless buffering on lots of HD movies, the higher the bitrate the worse it gets
  • misaligned episodes in TV series: like, Plex might treat episode 6 as episode 5, and so on. This happens ALL THE TIME if your show has a two-parter, and your copy merges that two-parter into one long episode, or vice versa, depending on however it's set up in Plex's database
  • if your show is just one giant folder with hundreds of episodes named sequentially, Plex will just treat everything like it's in season 1, and cut your list off after 100 episodes
  • if your show is sorted by release year and not season, Plex treats those years like season numbers, and assigns generic episode titles instead of just whatever the file name is (this applies to game shows, video podcasts, youtube, anything without traditional episode names)
  • Can't just have a miscellaneous folder to throw all your one-off episodes
  • lots of pull-the-power crashes on the PS3 version
I wrestled with Plex for quite some time and eventually just gave up. VLC on Xbox can play videos from a network share and that works well enough for me.

So Linus ad block is piracy, enjoys piracy when it isn't his content
Oh no no no, you see he legitimately ripped the media he legitimately owns on his legitimate physical media and he has in no way whatsoever pirated it because it's much much easier than to buy movies on discs and then ripping them just so you stay clean of the sin of piracy.

A safer option would be setting up a VPN connection to your network, exposing Jellyfin to the web isn't the safest option.

Oh yeah, a few weeks ago I've got an e-mail from Plex about a potential data breach and that I should change my password just in case. I've tried it once years ago and then ended up installing Jellyfin and never really using it as I watch my shit on my PC so I open the files directly, but still. Plex is closed software that relies on a central server that had a potential data breach. So, lmfao.

I switched from plex to emby after trying jellyfin. Emby has a less intrusive interface without adding on a ton of superfluous shit I don't want.

Jay reviews the screwdriver. tldw is he likes the magnet, enjoys the nurling on the shaft and prefers to twist it that way, broke one of the internal bit holders when dropping the screwdriver from shoulder height, cannot justify 70 bucks for it (but does so in a way to make it his own fault for also spending 70 bucks on something like a Rocket League season pass). He did try and do a review of the screwdriver vs his cheap amazon electric screwdriver but it seems like he might have deliberately rushed himself to crossthread screws on a motherboard mount with the electric screwdriver.
