On the podcast talking about it, Linus said that the nanny was the one who removed the cat from the drier and told him about the event, the result being him blaming her and firing her in spite of their signed 12-month contract together. Linus had no evidence that she had any involvement in the event and I feel like any rational, outside individual might realize that something is amiss with this story. She'd have to be functionally retarded to accidentally throw a cat in the clothes drier alongside a ton of wet clothing from the washing machine and tumble it until it dies, somehow also not noticing the cat screaming as it's being killed. The only other answer is that somebody else did it, and at that time the only other person at the house capable of doing that was his son.
