Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

It's quite impressive how tech reviewers manage to make something as simple as sitting down in front of a camera talking about <latest product> into these ginormous 100 man operations, decked out offices, editors, designers, sponsors etc.

Then you fuck up a 3dmark benchmark.
Happens to Let's Players, too, it's really pathetic and a condition of these unnatural parasocial relationships that develop.

what i don't understand is this: with a small army of full time employees and a massive lab/workshop, why is it so difficult to put out some two dozen videos per week? they have more than enough manpower to do it, they're not exactly starved for resources.
It's the Buzzfeed and Vice business model, shit out content for a certain demographic and hope the advertising bucks make it work.

The audience for genuine hardware obsessives was always going to be limited, some consultant probably sold them on the idea of appealing to a 'wider base' ie viewers that don't have the same level of technical knowledge but just want easily digestible content.

I think I will try to pull together a summary because so much has been found out.
But for now the TLDR-the last 5 pages or so is:
He has been a furry and "trans" for more than 10 years. His "wholesome tech nerd" persona does not check out behind (not so) closed doors. He is more a "furry troon degenerate". He is married to "Erica", another furry-MTF, and they like to publicize their relationship online.
His opsec is also terrible, Eric(a)'s is somehow even worse.

Good job Linus! Good luck new CEO :tomgirl:

On the heel of the recent LTT / GN debacle i got reminded of Anthony. I was fairly disappointed when he trooned out, was hoping he might one day find the light, but from reading up on the informations that have been collected he was in the deep end for a long time now, so there is no hope for to be saved. That most of the posts archived and profile linked are either deleted or set to private is just further proof that information is right on the money.

I really don't care that is a furgat, but that he's been supporting troons and trooming out himself is terrible.

Toasting in epic bread. Glad that this leaf clown got exposed, by none other than Tech Jesus.

Waiting to see how this draws a line in the sand in the "tech community", let's see how the other channels "react" to this.
I wish Steve could just articulate a bit better. He is like a cross of Josh and xQc.
Same can be said about Wendell from Level1Techs, they don't have the gift of the gab, but they're extremely knowledgeable. I just power through their commentary.

They have a 'must be subscribed for 6 months to chat' limit on the LTT livestream. Is this something they always had or was this to account for the current drama?
If only Linus spent less time pushing race mixing on his official corporate channels (wtf?) and got gud at reading labels on GPU boxes

However, this brings up another issue: why need writers for hardware reviews in the first place? It should be cut and dry numbers, you don't need to be quirky about it.
I disagree. Linus has the right idea trying to mix informative material with entertainment. It's undeniably easier to learn something when you are engaged & entertainment is a reliable way to do that. The problems begin when Linus does not understand how to balance those 2 things & he is bad at both. As is the rest of his team.

Can't download with ytdlp for some reason so someone else please try that but the comments are golden.

YT-DLP downloaded it just fine on my end, but until media uploading on KF (particularly videos) is fixed, I won't be able to upload a local archive.

Uploading over Tor works, but is slow.
That was working for me for a few days, but then I started getting kicked back various error messages on the tailend of 30 mins wasted trying to upload clips. It works sometimes but not nearly often enough for it to be worth babysiting 5+ failed upload attempts for each success.

I stopped viewing LTT years ago when Linus' wrinkly middle aged face started to clash too much with those trashy double earrings and teenage boy outfits.

He got way too "How do you do, fellow kids" to view.
