Your answer likely lies in a very dry article. But I'd say when magazines with color photographs became cheap and mass producable. Think playboy, but CSAM. Distribution and production allowed the plague to spread very quickly when it wouldn't have in times past.

He is trying to manipulate the audience with every second. Notice for "Virped" #10, he chooses that report on purpose. The pedophile talks about how their attraction is "nurturing and emotional". These fucking freaks take the de-stigmatize strategy too fucking far and it’s horrifying. The whole point of de-stigmatizing pedophilia — just enough — is to make it so non-offending pedophiles feel safe enough to get help before they hurt anyone. That’s it. It’s a harm reduction tactic, not a license to start talking about it like it’s just another “valid identity.”

But these degenerates take that inch and sprint a fucking mile with it. They start saying it’s a sexual orientation, try to normalize the attraction itself, and act like society’s disgust is the real problem — not the fact that the attraction is inherently dangerous. That kind of thinking isn’t helping anyone. It’s actively making it harder for people with urges to recognize that those urges are serious, harmful, and need to be managed — not embraced.

If you de-stigmatize it too much, they stop feeling the need to get help at all. They stop thinking it’s a problem. And that’s when they become a real threat. You don’t prevent abuse by making people comfortable with dangerous impulses — you prevent it by making sure they know those impulses are wrong and that they need to stay in control.

These people completely miss the point because they are more concerned with grown ass adults and not the safety of children.

I don’t think the devs are outright lolicons, but they’re definitely comfortable pandering to that crowd—and they know exactly what they’re doing. Persona’s always flirted with uncomfortable territory. Like in P3, you literally can’t reject Maiko’s marriage proposal, which already felt off. And in P4, Nanako says something similar and Dojima just shrugs it off like it’s normal. At first, I was willing to overlook it since it was pretty subtle and defendable in a vacuum. But that all shattered when I saw the Lavenza social link in Royal and the whole Ken romance route in the female P3P path. That’s when it hit me: “Oh, so that other stuff wasn’t just awkward writing—they were testing the waters.”
