I feel like if he did actually leave Lori, he would become the abuser in his next relationship. Lori, if I remember correctly, is Kevin's first real relationship and it really does show. Absolutely agree with this. Kevin is going to perpetuate the cycle of abuse in whatever his next relationship is. He's learned all the tips and tricks from Lori. Kevin was, at one point, a wide-eyed, naive young man with a lot of promise who got duped by an abusive hag looking for a meal ticket. He's now become the male version of Lori - psychotic, violent, divorced from reality, and very, very alone.

She is desperately seeking an out to get away from him. He's more of a liability to her than an asset now. It's only going to be more difficult for her to partner shop as she gets older. She doesn't have anything other women in her age group have to attract and keep someone in their life. She's got no skills, no career, can't cook, can't be a caretaker, and has a shit personality as the cherry on top. Nah, Kowvin is naturally a stupid asshole, some old friends have already confirmed that here, which I’m sure you know. Sure, Lori’s own insanity has exacerbated Kevin’s, but I’m convinced it already existed. I think Kevin is in damage control over the cutting incident and is trying to rewrite what actually happened to cover for him and Lori’s obviously abusive relationship. He’s trying to absolve Lori of any blame and is probably in denial over what he did and why he did it.

I think Kevin cut himself in the heat of the moment during an argument with Lori over his friendship with Jade to prove to Lori that Jade was just a friend. Lori was probably threatening to break up with him because she can’t handle any man in her life having women as friends, and Kevin was/is absolutely infatuated with Lori so he obviously isn’t going to let her get away. His actions are manipulative but I don’t think he had any malicious intent in the moment other than “Lori is acting like she’s going to leave me if I don’t do something right now to prove to her that Jade is only a friend” and his little peanut brain went straight to self harm in order to force Lori to stay engaged in the conversation and not leave him. Kevin is extremely naive and probably stunted mentally so I don’t think it’s super out of character for him to resort to such a visceral response to potentially losing the ~love of his life~. He’s like eternally 16 years old.

Then, of course, he has some clarity (because he had these moments a lot in the early Kevin and Lori days) and ends up sending the pics and a quick rundown to another friend because he realized how fucked the situation was and was probably seeking validation or support or whatever.

Regardless of what happened, it’s obvious him and Lori are trying to rewrite history and neither of them can get their fucking story straight lmao. I don’t understand why they’re going so hard on the cutting incident, though. So bizarre.
