Necroing once again because the comic industry's dumpster fire got more lighter fluid squeezed on it recently.
Backstory: A comic shop owner named Glenn went viral for saying the obvious of why the Big 2's books aren't selling (we love the characters for who
they are, not who the
authors are. because nobody fucking cares who the authors are. Shut up and make good comics.) and got barked at by the usual suspects. But this time, they got barked at back because Glenn is one of the last kinds of people comic makers should be pissing off:
the one who's stocking their books. the vital connection that gets them paid. the one who "makes them feel seen" that they constantly demand so much. Not to mention they made fun of his looks and not addressing what he said.
Mark Millar had Glenn on his podcast show to talk more about it and it's not a bad listen. (Before this, Millar deemed the usual suspects who made the comic industry it is as "cancel pigs" and boy is it bothering them).
To bring it back to Waid, he went on a faceberg rant about the whole thing and ended it with this.
