Fuck this guy. I watched a couple walkthroughs for GTA V shit a couple years ago and he pops up in my recomended constantly, even after muting him and a dozen clip channels.

Oh boy. I’ve been waiting for this thread for years. I used to be an avid viewer of this guy, starting in early 2019 when he first started gaining popularity. I actually liked him a lot but there were “incidents” he was involved in over the years that made me slowly start to resent him, some of which people have started to touch upon in this thread. Screaming his lungs out at a fan (Scott) for playing badly in Among Us in 2020, throwing false accusations of foul play at Unnamed in 2021 because he beat him to the first no damage run in GTA 5, and his obsession with reaction content which has become a personal crusade for him and turned him into a preaching homeless person. Also countless incidents of him losing his shit at fans for nonexistent infractions on stream - there were a LOT of these and they’ve mostly been lost to time.
It's worth giving some background on him since it helps understand why he is the way he is. Matt is a fairly open person so this is information that he’s shared over the years, mainly through his rambles series. He basically grew up socially retarded, spending all of his time reading fiction books. His first friends were in high school, who he’s since described as “dickheads” who never treated him as an actual friend and made fun of him. He studied a bachelors of psychology at Swinburne University of Technology, partly out of a desire to understand his own mental issues (there’s a video of him graduating on YouTube). By this point (2012ish), he had started a YouTube channel where he would repost videos of religious debates. He’d also post videos of himself talking about these topics, which was the usual cringey 2010s era internet atheist persona that you’d expect. He worked as a supermarket stocker and hearing aid repairer throughout university - by the time he graduated, streaming had already started showing small signs of potential. He may have been in the 50 - 100 viewer range at this point but that was enough for him to decide to try it full time. If I have my timeline correct, he spent 2016 to 2018 whittling away his savings without seeing any significant growth on Twitch. By the end of 2018, he made a video crying about how he was almost out of money and would have to quit. But by early 2019, inspired by the algorithmic success of another GTA 5 YouTuber/speedrunner (FriendlyBaron), he started prioritising YouTube and became successful very quickly. His self-worth is tied to content creation because it’s essentially the only positive affirmation he’s received for anything in his life. Consequently, he’s extremely arrogant on the topic and defensive to the point of psychosis. But at the same time, his personal life has been a failure so his self-confidence is extremely low whenever he’s outside of his domain.
Funnily enough, despite him deriding other YouTubers for only caring about views at the expense of quality content, a lot of people (including me) stopped watching him because he turned his channel into a soul-sucking chasm of squeezing every single second of video for engagement and watch time. You know how a lot of content creators will do a Twitch stream then edit it down into YouTube content? DarkViperAU is the only person I've ever seen who treats his stream as a recording booth. He will repeat the same semi-scripted sentence 5 times in a row live on stream as if it's a literal recording booth while thousands of people watch pretending like it's a normal stream. It's a clown show, you have to be there to understand how ridiculous it really is.
Anyway, I could go on for hours about this and I probably will throughout the thread. He has put a lot of effort into sanitising his image (whenever he's not comparing reactors to rapists at least) so there's a lot of deleted/private content that showcase his more deranged side. That's truly exceptional. I've seen streamers that will record videos for youtube live and it's a bit cringe because the delivery suddenly changes and it goes from laidback streamer to HEYYYYYY WHAT'S UP YOUTUBE IT'S YA BOY ILOVENIGGERDICKS420 AND TODAY WE'RE PLAYING THE GAME - and I've seen them give up halfway through if it isn't working out, but I've never seen one do multiple 'takes' while streaming. Amazing.

If it's possible (or hasn't been deleted off the web), could that one bit of drama Darkviper had with an editor he hired be included for the thread? I do not remember much of it because I only used his content for background noise until I got annoyed and stopped watching him, but I do remember him hiring a video editor he had that did a pretty shit job such as uploading a video to his tik tok without any audio, so then Darpviper decided to leak DMs between him and the editor only to reveal a spectacular spergout on his side along the lines of "STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY CONTENT." I'll try to see if I can find it again once I have some free time.
