Blake's mom. At least she had the courage to call out her child for being a dipshit.

Granted that only happened one time, but it shows that she (in some circumstance) is less of an enabler than Matthew's mother.

Isn't Mrs. Davis always yelling at Matty to pipe down off-camera? I don't get the vibe she coddles him, at least not on Barb levels. Even when she told Emma Matty was fine for filming the shed fire, I don't think she was acting protective. Just telling Emma not to bitch over something which superficially isn't a big deal.

I always got the impression on some level she doesn't approve, but she isn't that bright and/or has no spine. So whenever he acts out of line she just kind of impotently tells him to knock it off.

You got me there. Still, she does put in some of the blame for how her children came out- The scatterbrained son and the ignored daughter.

Oh without a doubt she's a shitty parent. No decent mom lets their teenaged kid order food through a stuffed animal.

I give him the benefit of the doubt on that one--I think it was just some weird bullshit he did cause he thought it was a funny video and not something he regularly does. But that just further reinforces how much his mom needs to reign in his behavior.

Though it sounds like Dadthew is a much stricter parent.
Does Emma go to regular school while Matt watches movies/cartoons all day? If so, I hope she takes after her Dad more than her mother.

I'm not too sure about this theory, since she seems to be enabling him at every single whim. For example, take a look at his newest video:

My question is this: Does he do any work around the house for an allowance? He seems to be getting new games, movies and consoles several times a week. Something just doesn't seem to add up. I doubt he has a job, since he would've blurted it out by now if he did, but this sort of coddling benefits no one in this relationship.

I'll have to find it again, but in one video he claimed that he "was offered a job at Gamestop" and that he was really excited to work there but "can't have a job until he's 18." Not sure why, he doesn't exactly seem to have a lack of free time.

Most likely a parental thing. "No job till you're 18. You gotta focus on on your schoolwork."

You know, for all the good that's apparently doing him.

Video found:

When I'm 18 I'm going to be getting that job, which will be really exciting since, you know, it would be a great opportunity to work at Gamestop

What I have to admit is that I've never seen a lolcow legitimately want to work like he seemed to express in that video which is a nice change, but I can definitely see Matthew performing poorly once he finds out that a job at Gamestop doesn't consist of chatting about vidya all day.

I think he just wants to work at Gamestop.

It's not just him, but there are a LOT of nerds and spergs alike that yearn to work for Gamestop (because vidya). There is a large queue of people for them to choose from, so I don't know if Matthew was guaranteed a job by management (doubtful, not just because of potential lip service, but also because management turnover is pretty high at a place like that, especially in a two-year span) or just wants that job because he thinks it will be much more fun than other jobs.

He's in for a rude awakening if the latter is the case.

Also, the fact that he can't get a job until he's 18 is bullshit. A lot of states allow young people to get work permits starting at the age of 15 or 16, depending on the state. If he wants a job, he should be allowed to get a part time job for about 15-20 hours a week.

In the state of Virginia, you can get a work permit when you're 14 or 15, as required by state law. Seeing that Matt is at least 15-16, literally all that needs to be done for him to start working is get some very easy paperwork and a medical checkup done. In the unlikely event that Matt and Mama Davis actually do something productive, and times are set up between work and "education", he's free to work at Gamestop, until he inevitably quits when he has to use actual brainpower to do his job.

What's going to kill him is the fact that retail jobs like Gamestop require a lot of social flexibility and communication skills when dealing with customers. Considering his "expertise" in this subject, he will probably do as well as Mighty No. 9's release trailer. In other words, very, very poorly.

...like an anime fan on prom night?

I'm so so sorry

Isn't that what he already is?

I mean we've seen the "Ordering food with dolls" video, I can only imagine how much lower it will go.
Seeing how he also wastes his Mom's money on buying DVDs and videos for the sole purpose of smashing them, I'm expecting him to do something stupid like shoot a video of himself smashing something like Aliens: Colonial Marines on the store floor.

Part of me thinks that he'd attempt to rip-off the AVGN act like an angry reviewer by yelling about "what a fucking piece of shit this game is!", and then proceed to destroy it like a spaz.

Now I just want to see him start trashing an entire GameStop as "Justice" for somehow offending him.
