Naia is an adult and is responsible for their own actions. Mental illness gives a certain amount of leeway in terms of understanding or of context, but it doesn't absolve all responsibility and this is something Naia has failed to learn. Sure, parents can have a part to play in that, but from the way Naia types, they have enough of a structured presence of mind to pay lip-service to self-awareness, so they have enough presence of mind to be responsible. Whatever else Naia is, Naia's not a complete idiot. If they were, that would make this situation at least a little bit less shitty. That they aren't is so much worse.

From experience, one little quirk of narcs is that it's impossible to stop themselves from gaslighting and trying to convince a person (or group of people in this instance) that they are good and in the right. They keep trying to mercilessly crawl back into people's lives. Whereas normal people can take a break in relationship (be it romantic or platonic) and hurt for a bit, they respect the other person's desire to be left alone and move on with their lives. Narcs will continue to try and contact you for sometimes years down the line, by text or call or FB message or whatever, usually under the guise of trying to "make amends", "make good on old promises" or "just a check-in" all with the express intention of trying to guilt or trick you back into their circle.

I hate to use this word, but it really is triggering to people that have dealt with this kind of abuse because just when you get to a place that you believe the abuse is in the past and forget about them, they crop up again at the worst of times to remind you. Sometimes not even blocking their number or socials is enough. They will use their friends as conduits to contact you on their behalf or make throwaway accounts.

I wish nothing but the worst for every single narc in the world. It's not their fault they were born or made fucked in the head, but it has been proven time and time again that it is nearly impossible to "rehabilitate" them. They lack the basic empathy needed to interact with others in a genuinely kind and fair manner and for that they are a lost cause.
