after watching this, i sort of disagree with about half the "problems" he mentioned. at this price bracket, these are not "go-to-war" guns. they are sporter carbines that can do some limited ranch/home defense duty in a pinch. the magazine release being threaded an extra turn but otherwise functional is both easy to fix and not really a problem. likewise stiff takedown pins or a sticky mag catch on a new unfired rifle is kind of a meh issue. there is some legit concern with the receiver extension not fully turned to positively engage the buffer retaining pin and the lack of a castle nut staking is also a concern if the gun will see repeated duty use since i've had decades of experience of them eventually walking loose with carry wear. that being said a lot of the issues are "tighten" or "loosen" and aren't really issues for a sporter carbine.
I agree with ya, I mostly included that bit as an example for the conclusion of don't make a poorfag run into regrets. Things like a bcg replacement is easy stuff, but a poorfag may sweat 90-150 bucks for a new one when his is toast out the box and they should've likely have been advised to instead save a few hundred extra over however long to buy a better gun. Especially as this is at least half-heartedly a chart for a self defense carbine, potentially during civil unrest.

a gun (or car) you can put hands on and personally inspect, and if you have a knowledgeable buddy also ask them to inspect, and agree upon will always be useful for finding pawn shop gold or consignment shelf treasure. in my neck of the woods about the only few AR-15s that i would feel okay buying without personal inspect would be Colt LE 6920/6940 models, Windham Weaponry/Bushmaster R series rifles, Rock River LAR-15 series, or various models from BCM, DD, LWRC, Armalite, LMT, and a few others. the LE6940 is a hair over $1k and worth it imho, with an alternate being the R14 or XM4 WW/BM rifles, et c.

for under $1k unit cost i'm not sure there's much of anything i would buy off the shelf for duty use that isn't an upper on an existing lower. i guess nabbing a BCM on sale is possible, or a used LE6920 somewhere, not sure if i'd count those since they wouldn't be new rifles. really the bar is lower for sporter carbines with lighter duty schedules and a more general variety of uses than something that's riding around patrol vehicles or banging around in a stryker all day and humped over hill and dale by a grunt. a sporter can to target shooting, get various caliber conversions for cheap shooting, run weird ammo combos or re-manufactured ammo, deal with a less than ideal maintenance schedule, have to hit coyotes on a farm or deal with some home invaders after your pain meds.

because of that a .223 sporter rifle, to meet both budget and use-cases, shouldn't be overly expensive and specialized, and likewise has to be high quality enough to deal with a lot of weird situations and corner cases. the issues highlighted in the SAR video about Ruger are mostly a non-issue to me with that in mind as it's a good rifle for the money asked and the fixes are a wrench and youtube video away from being fixed. if anything this should be a wake up call for Ruger to improve their assembly processes, and it's also good that it's nothing like missing gas key staking or bad chamber sizing or loctite being used during assembly.

heck, some guy that buys that rifle is also equally likely to never touch it more than a few times a year much less fire it in anger. does that mean it should be a cheap POS for looks? no, it means that spending money on a KAC SR-15 is wasted on that guy and better spent on a handgun and ammo that will encourage better preparation and more putting rounds down range. that latter bit for "civil unrest" may be more useful than a $2k AR or hand-wringing over a castle nut staking.

just my $0.02.

The ukraine war was the final death blow more so than the trannies, trip fags and jannie scum. I've used it for years but right after it became a bot net during Crimea boogaloo it just became worthless.

I miss it. So much fun, so many shit posts, so many memes. :(

The true death of it was those of us getting older and managing to afford the firearms we talked about and shoot.

Having the filters I set up stop 14 Ukraine threads on average was still crazy to me. They used to just make one giant sticky thread and call it a day instead of letting retards clog up the entire board.

I haven't seen anything posted about this yet so I guess I'll share it here

Declassified Strategic Implementation Plan for Countering Domestic Terrorism from the Biden Administration

Classified plans for gun control shrouded under the convenient blanket of "muh terrorism" is the reason why I'm posting in here, but in totality its pretty horrifying (but not surprising) at how much the government was flagging as behavior at risk of terroristic activity.

Oh yeah and of course, the banks were involved too. :)

Mauser's followup to the C96 was the 06/08. It had the same form factor of the C96, but was more robust, used a unique flapper delayed recoil system, and was chambered for a proprietary 9mm Mauser cartridge that was quite a bit more potent than 9mm Luger. It sadly never made it out of the prototype stage and around 100 were thought to have been made for testing, with about 75 known to still exist. Unlike most C96 examples, the 06/08 had removable magazines. I've only ever seen one for sale and I think it was going for like $50-$60k.

Someone actually made a homemade version of this gun chambered in standard 9mm:

the new anaconda was designed as a .454 so expect that variant to come down the pipe at some point.
That would explain why Newconda was slightly bigger than the originals. I remember reading somewhere that the original run of the Anaconda suffered in sales because buyers felt it was too large compared to a M29 or Redhawk, in addition to the QC issues mentioned earlier in this thread. Much more inclined to buy a .454 Colt than a Taurus if I were in the market.

Reddit is mad this guy got a optic milled slide (not even an original milled) but I think it looks pretty cool

While I am mostly against people "sporterizing" out of production firearms (like that guy who tacticooled an M1 and M1911) acting like someone ruined a historical item because he milled an aftermarket slide is peak stupidity I can only expect from reddit.

I'm more annoyed that he has the money for 2 P7s and then puts a holosun on a 4k gun.

Dangerously based - I'd rather have the dude actually use his handgun then have it collect dust in his safe. I know I'll get flamed for this, but guns are meant to be used and if I had a Purdey SxS I'd take it the field with zero fucks if I got it dinged up.

The Howa 1500 is pretty fucking legit, even if barreled actions are only ~$400-500. My .308 is maybe my favorite range toy at the moment.
The mini actions they make for intermediate/assault rifle cartridges are legit because the action itself is properly scaled down which results in a tight and light(er) package.

The decline started when all the Slavshit import bans hit in 2014 and it was all downhill from there. Now /k/ is an empty shell of a board, totally co-opted by the feds and discord.

So just to ask cause someone mentioned it recently, are Bear Creek Arms shit-tier? I heard some people recommend them but when I actually went to the site I saw that they had uppers in a shitload of weird calibers and most of them had been out of stock for like months at a time.
