I got this email from a gun shop I use to frequent, I haven't been in the Illinois Socialist Republic in a decade but I'm disgusted all the same.

The subject line: "Is jail in your future?"

So, uh... anybody ever name your guns? How autistic would that be?

... asking for a friend.
One of the customers I have that frequents my store's range has a gun he named his childhood dog after. He got it surface engraved to remember her by after she passed away in his arms in 2020. He's a nice enough guy, and it's only on the blank side of the lower so it isn't obnoxious. It doesn't look unsightly either.

Still gay.

I can't say I have serious or sticking names for any of my guns. My 308 heavy barrel rem 700 I often call the big bitch because it's just so damn big and heavy. I often refer to any of my Mosins as a pole arm of sorts I get really odd looks from any non gun person, when I ask if they'd like to shoot my halberd. While 10 is not exactly same as 40, ever since that one meme, at times I'll call my g20 my problem solva. My 941 Jericho Spike.

I just goof around but nothing has a real name or nick name just sometimes when the mood's right I refer to it by silly things. Oddly enough though when I finally break down and get me a FN FAL it will be Erika. Why? Years ago back in college playing call of duty drunk with a buddy, he just kept calling the FAL any time he picked it up Erika for some reason. So I thought it will be a nice homage to frat house antics.

NGL when I'm in my suit I try to class it up with my CZ 97 those wood grips are *chefs kiss* unlike the toyota pickup A E S T H E T I C S that is my normal carry.

I shot one of those pimped out from the factory sigs like that with an dot and all, I gotta say as someone who's "irons is fine" often (granted I'm a triji whore) my theory is really kinda you know, K.I.S.S. but damn that was a really well made gun and you can use it better and faster with an optic.

Even open carry I'd feel a bit silly and when I can and do bring my long slide out on my g20 for hunting, that's "just irons" I'd feel to cringe otherwise, but maybe the game I shoot won't have time to laugh....

Never had an issue with snag on my G43x with optic. I don't carry a threaded barrel though.

Still, this is peak fudd. At 10 yards, if you can't hit a man sized target with NPOA, you shouldn't be carrying a gun anyway.

skeletonized and/or red anodized parts?
i mean, i've swapped and manufactured skeletonized race gun triggers and hammers for people plenty over the years (1911's and variations like Para-Ord's P14's et c for the most part).

i think some people take it way too far for aesthetics so something that was practical and nice looking loops around to horrifyingly tacky - you can find something like that in practically everyone's hobby from sewing to guns to cooking to cars. at least with a pistol brace you were (in theory) thumbing your nose at the BATFE. with a skeletonized Fortis-styled grip or something you're reducing weight with a dubious method... i could see it if you had a race gun that absolutely had to be the lightest possible and you ran out of things to skeletonize on an otherwise normal AR not so much.

for the pictured rifle i would be more concerned if the magazines and barrel extension and upper receiver were properly made for the 7.62x39; it should ideally have one large feed ramp and a relatively large gas port and not just an over-bored normal barrel.

It's Bear Creek so it probably isn't.
