I am disappointed in the lack of bolt actions with Mannerheim stocks or iron sights installed from the get go in the modern era.
Did you mean Mannlicher? I've never heard of a Mannerheim stock. And I'm with you on the lack of iron sights on bolt rifles.
I decided to do window shopping on bolt actions in 30.06 Springfield.
On the sportsman's warehouse site, like about 5 modern out of 50 modern bolt actions come with sights.
But here is the kicker. Their sight radius is pure bullshit. Unlike World War 1 or 2 bolt actions, the rear sight is in front of the receiver, not behind it like for a M1903.
Brownwells is even worse, only one lol.
This was factoring in out of stock rifles as well.
Did you end up finding anything? If not, I was going to recommend looking at a used CZ 550. I'd tell you to look at one manufactured in the 90's, as I think that's when they were at their peak QC-wise. For instance, the CZ 550 FS in .30-06 isn't that hard to find and I think you might like it.
Throw this on the rear scope dovetail if you want good iron sights.
California is a fucking lost cause. We should lay our old Megaton yield nukes rotting away in stockpile down in the fault line and just break the fucker off from the rest of the nation. Let it be a warning to the other pozzed states to step back in line with the Constitutional principles of the nation.
Can we do that with just some parts of California, like all the big cities? Because lots of other Cali areas are fantastic.
Anyone have experience with the Glock 20 or 29?
I have some trigger time on a Glock 20 and I have a lot of trigger time/dry fire practice on the S&W M&P 10mm, the 4.6" model. I'd say that with the recoil from 10mm loads that I think are worth running (180gr at ~1230 fps at the muzzle) that the shorter pistols would be fucking snappy as hell, but I've never fired one.
Edited to add: the polymer frame makes the pistol lighter to carry concealed. The frame flex is also a thing in that felt recoil is slightly less. You might already know that. The Glock 20 has less options available for aftermarket fire control parts. I personally don't mind Glock triggers, especially once they've had a few thousand pulls, but no stock Glock trigger compares to an Apex Tactical FSS. That's primarily why I chose the M&P. I also noticed that the M&P barrel has more complete case support than the Glock. Not in any way a dealbreaker, but if you like to save your fired brass that may matter to you.
The reason for that is because iron sights on modern hunting rifles are mostly meant for short range shots on moving game, not accurate long range shots. Look at the express sights on the Tikka Battue model for example.
Tikka T3x Arctic still has proper iron sights by the way.
I like that Tikka Arctic. You own one? If so, think they're worth looking into for iron sighted bolt rifle?
No offense, but you kind of skipped over the fact he had crooked co-workers and did nothing to remove them from the force or to resign, go to the media, etc.
Very few people take the mindset that all cops are inherently bad people, but when you have a profession where members of that profession consistently refuse to remove the "bad apples", well, those bad apples spoil the whole bunch.
I get what you're saying but I bet it's not that easy to root foul motherfuckers out. You think it would be given how much their behavior tarnishes the perception of cops but I doubt police admin feels that way at all. I'm unsure why this is but I've seen similar at the hospitals I work at. Behavior usually has to be egregious and protracted enough to get a lot of folks talking before anyone gets off their ass to do something about it, and this largely depends on how expendable that person is.
