When people donate to others, they hope that their funds will help the recipient prosper or get out of a bind. While many only need the occasional handout to improve their situation, there are some that instead decide to make begging their main source of income. In extreme cases, this persists for years. This thread follows one e beggar doing just that, and how she has made a "career" and name for herself in Twitter's mutual aid community out of it.
Who is Mem, Anyway?
Memery "Mem" Revels (Twitter / archive) is a 26 year old woman living a semi-transient lifestyle. A regular feature on the E Beggars thread since its OP, she is a they/them agender that claims to be chronically ill (including long covid) and bedbound. She claims no income, not even welfare, only having online crowdfunding as a means for support. Whether this is true or not (as you will see below), her supporters and her often employ guilt and shaming tactics if a goal is not met fast enough to her liking. Usually in the form of "if you do not donate now, Mem will die from sickness or exposure to the elements."
She also has claimed a lifetime of abuse, trauma (including parental death), and anxiety stemming from them as a reason to not work. Her only known past job is as a CNA for a brief time after high school. In 2019, her friend Ice (AKA D) and her took a cue from Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" and fled their abusive families in Mem's car for a better future. They ended up living in that car and the occasional moldy hotel until they funded the first of several rented homes via crowdfunding in 2021.
This specific part of her backstory is used for pity points with extreme regularity almost half a decade into becoming housed, and almost always noted in her social media profiles (example top of thread).
Mem is incredibly terrified of germs, particularly of the Covid-19 variety, due to these experiences. The rare times that she goes outside, she will double mask or wear a face shield and mask if she has one on hand. She often begs for masks and Lysol, and will use both when maintenence workers arrive (if she even lets them in at all). Her supporters and her shame people for attending "superspreader" events like music festivals, mostly because they not only are convinced that the Covid pandemic is still ongoing but because people spend money on them instead of giving to poor people like Mem.
Which makes it all the more curious that she will gladly pet outdoor cats, all while making her own cat sick from her living conditions (read on to learn more about that).
Many of Mem's claims are similarly contradictory. Despite claims that she fled to escape her family (and particularly her father's) abuse, he has contacted her at least once to lecture her to better herself via school or a job so that she can stay on his medical insurance after she ages out of the Obamacare age limit.
She is similarly terrified of "stalkers" and "harassers" finding her or hurting her beyond the occasional callout post or account report, yet has revealed her location more than once, among other proof (ironically done to prove the haters wrong).
This borders on paranoia, even delusions of grandeur. Once she pondered that she is so targeted for crowdfunding, that the feds actively watch her account to stalk and shame her.
The E Begging Ring (AKA Mem's main social circle)
Mem prides herself as a leader in the Mutual Aid Community. She regularly retweets posts of other e beggars on her account. Occasionally, she will even donate funds given to her for her own expenses (or pay the occasional camwhore) as "mutual aid," or that ask for funds to be donated to someone through her or a friend. A couple mutuals have also done this for Mem, as well. This has caused her to create a decent sized group of followers and white knights, as well as be well known in the Twitter mutual aid community.
Also known in the E Beggars thread as "The Hydra" due to its tendency to lose a member here and there only to have one or two immediately replace them. This is a group of women and genderspecials (i.e. women) that claim to depend on Mem for money or signal boost her. Occasionally, they will raise money for her or give her money from loans and/or credit cards (that they inevitably e beg to recuperate funds for). It functions similar to the original trans Rat King. A group of people within a larger social circle that enable each other, and are so close in association that it's like a bunch of rats with their tails tied together.
Some of these accounts have since been purged or renamed. If there is no archive available, I deeply apologize. This list is also incomplete. Like an actual hydra, it is easy to lose track, especially in an as incestuous community as the Mutual Aid one. Included are most of the major ones that regularly appear(ed) or retweet(ed) Mem and vice versa.

Notes: Little is known about Ice beyond that he's super morbidly obese, disabled, and always in bed. Has been Mem's roommate since 2019. Has developed severe dental problems in the past year to the point that he can only eat soft foods (or popsicles, which Mem begs for in lieu of dental care).

Notes: Mem's cousin. Has been e begging for about as long as Mem. Has three children under the age of five that she claims are all neurodivergent. Wrote her CashApp on her stomach while pregnant with her second child. Regularly fired from jobs, often citing bad working conditions or racism as the reasons. Her WIC benefits were revoked, allegedly for similar reasons. Pops up now and then, asking Mem and others to crowdfund for her or donate. Was evicted in February 2025 due to nonpayment. Blames Walmart firing her a couple months after starting work as the cause of it.

Notes: A he/they pooner, Allen was notable in that she was one of the only members that had an actual job in retail. Spent much of her time ranting about how much she hated white people when she wasn't begging or signal boosting other crowdfunders in the ring (usually another e beggar named Coco). Let Mem use her credit card at least once. Turned on her in late 2022 over a betrayal. Profile disappeared shortly after. Was likely banned due to writing death threats to actor Jonathan Majors after he was arrested for domestic abuse.

Notes: Was the main victim in a scam Mem ran in 2022. Coco was homeless and lived in a car with her child that she had while homeless. Despite considering Uber her main job, she was involved in multiple car crashes. Also drove for Uber while positive for Covid at the height of the pandemic. Once was offered a stay at home job only to quit it because she didn't want to pay for internet. Was discovered to still be homeless and actively suicidal under the alias "Alize" in late 2024.

Notes: Lex, another he/they pooner, mostly signal boosted for Mem. Cut ties and deleted her original profile shortly after a significant callout against Mem in late 2022. Mem began retweeting her (or her partner Love, who also signal boosts for her) occasionally in the past couple months, hinting at a sort of reconciliation.
Salvatore / Kir / Salvatorized (Twitter account (archive))

Notes: He/him pooner living in Puerto Rico. Currently Mem's biggest white knight (and not just because of the color of her skin). Often posts art related to Mem's cause, offers commissions where all proceeds go to Mem, or will signal boost with. (Many of Mem's begging graphics are created or illustrated by Salvatore, as well.) Gained occasional access to Mem's account to post for her when she's actually busy for once, such as when she moved to her newest home in January 2025. Admitted in late 2024 that she took out a personal loan against her family's wishes to donate it to Mem. Now begging to not just help her friend, but also to repay the loan as she has is now unemployed.

CocoGate (AKA the Andthatsteababe/MutualAidMami Incident)
You may have noticed mention of a significant fallout between Mem and some of her followers in late 2022 in the above section. This deserves its own section, as it was the closest time that Mem was cancelled and chased off Twitter entirely.
In August 2022, Twitter user andthatsteababe (archive) posted a lengthy callout thread for Mem (archive), accusing her of being not only a grifter but a user and abuser, master manipulator, and outright scammer.
Mem released a rebuttal in October, attempting to clear the air and declare that she was the real victim for being unfairly attacked despite doing so much for the black mutual aid community.
Things mostly quieted down after that. Then another Twitter user, mutualaidmami (archive) followed suit in December 2022 with her own extensive callout (archive).
This one was harder for Mem and her followers to pass off as haters hating. Besides Twitter screenshots, it included leaks of chats to, about, and from Mem herself. Two of the more significant claims were that Mem spends hundreds of dollars a week on weed meant to go to rent or other expenses, and that she had at least once funded it by using money that was intended for Coco, a fellow e beggar that was living in her car with her toddler son at the time that Mem was claiming to help crowdfund for.
These two points were what several people in or near Mem's circle focused on when both callouts came to light. Responses were varied yet overall negative, ranging from confirming that Mem had threatened to release sensitive info if they did not send her money, to expressing that they felt betrayed because they had let Mem use their credit card, to demanding that Mem pay Coco the stolen funds (or that people donate to a new fund created to recuperate said stolen funds), or swearing that Mem's behavior was much worse than the fact that she blew so much on weed.
After further calling out, Mem briefly went private. She ultimately abandoned her original MutualAidMem account in early 2023 in favor of her current one.
Same Shit, Different Day
Nowadays, Mem mostly does the same as she did pre-Cocogate, only becoming more insistent on becoming disabled from Covid and fearing that she will catch it again to the point of refusing repairmen to come into her rentals.
This is evidently a problem, as she claims that major appliances like her fridge and washer and/or their cords frequently break...
...And sewage seems to flood every single basement of almost property she's been in since 2023. Below tweets regard two different homes.
Like clockwork, the moment that she moves in, she complains about sewage flooding the basement. She then cries that she has no clean clothes for the current season due to the sewage ruining all of them, or that her cat Gem developed asthma from the fumes. Begs for sanitation in conjunction with her usual bills and expenses follow. This will continue for months at a time.
Or even longer. A person once donated her the amount she had been asking to cover the sanitation for that exact purpose almost nine months into it allegedly being an issue. Mem used the money for something else and resumed begging for it. She was still begging for basement sanitation while in the process of moving from said property a few months later in January 2025 (i.e. over a year since the initial flood).
Landlords inevitably refuse to renew leases with Mem after a year of late rent, literal shit, and extensive property damage. Mem and Ice (nowadays referred to in posts as "D") relocated to a new, more rural property around New Year's 2025. Less than a day after moving in, the initial complaints about the property not being up to snuff surfaced, including that her toilet seat was broken. She spent preparing a snowstorm on, among other things, a replacement toilet seat while claiming that she did not have enough food for a major storm.
Currently, her old car (that she may be driving illegally) is on its last legs and she constantly begs for overdue utilities with the threat that any shut off will result in her eviction. This includes a gas bill in the thousands of dollars despite moving in early January.
Her power bill is also over $1000 with a tentative shut off date of mid March 2025.
Needless to say, Mem has no intentions of bettering herself in the near future. It's far easier to beg and complain about how hard life and/or Covid-19 is, after all. Her cup (and basement), however, will runneth over with sewage.
