I thought Uncle Ryan was supposed to be a cool normal guy and not a rich dickhead. He was the guy Mike supposedly turned to after his unpublished romance prison escape novela of stolen elan school forum stories but he couldn’t help him bc of his loyalty to Mike’s dad
you know more than me, i thought his uncle fucking died a bit after grandma did in like 2011/2013. I'm entirely going off of what i remember from the episodes and he never said his uncles name on those, but it does creepily fit that his uncle was named Ryan.
It was more specifically about thinking marriage and society's holidays and celebrations and rules were gay. He was very against marriage too in that rant but as we can see he went back on
while Mike did get married i think thats entirely because of the whole citizenship thing with Jules, and it was a quick city hall thing, which doesn't make sense when his family is so close by.
I think Mike is more performative now, but I dont think the essence of the show has changed much over the last 6 years.
the biggest change from S13 era to now is Mike isn't broke and has fans and has people hyping him up in the mainstream, so he can burn a couple hours gloating about that. plus having a partner that will help you set up karaoke and breaks. the biggest change is how rarely he fucking sang 6 years ago compared to now. plus way more breaks.
ts kind of crazy that he is able to do an enjoyable, (to my tastes) 13 hour show
you don't add up all the breaks, do that and you'll see how shit he really is. he takes way too much time catching up with stories of his life off the show too, he talked more about his personal life in the last 50 episodes than he did in the 500 before them. he takes way too much time to get to his actual segments and understands that most of his new fans basically think hours=good content.
not that he ever cared too much about going "long" but because of some limitations in the mid-2010s with his equipment forcing 2-4 hour chunks and previous goal of 2 hr episodes in the late 2000s he had to get better at time management and meant he would hate himself when he would drunkenly spent 8 hours begging people to call him like he did in 2012, and put it out as an episode
now he's too wealthy and has too much fame and too many fans to care, its like 2010 redbar all over again, he stops caring about putting out quality episodes and just goes through the motions, except you can't see it as much now because Jules does all the show prep.
Also its obvious he's toned the show down from what it used to be, the Tim Hediecker stuff is obnoxious as is the robin tran stuff and just going "i hated trannies but now i'm not an incel" and he backed away hard from the whole "we're the edgy show no one else will give you" and because of how long it takes between episodes something like a Melton Watch is impossible to do now because you have at least a dozen other people reporting this stuff better. Look at his Nick Rekieta stuff as an example, like why would you watch Redbar for Schuab or Logan Paul content when you have way better more entertaining people doing it. Mike also used to have streams where he'd draw but now
@svenstoffels and others are doing that better than he ever could.
Mike's spark or drive isn't really there compared to when he was going after say TommyNC or Chris D'elia when no one else would.
