Also, apparently I was wrong about livestreams being free even though he's said it many times on the show. Maybe you just have to be logged in and don't need to be scars, but you can't watch it if not logged in now. Here's a link.
he said it a lot back during the old days, you're just a dipshit that clearly hasn't kept up since trump was in office. probably still call it the barmy.
Here’s the link to Mike and Othy’s falling out https://redbarradio.net/archives/04-12-13

It gets awkward as fuck, and after reading your post I can’t help but feel kinda bad for the guy. At the same time I resonate with Mike’s strife more than I can articulate.
mike burns bridges quick and hard. the 9 months before mike gets kicked from the club it was obvious him and kyle had a massive falling out, and it apparently all stems from Kyle being bad at freestyle rapping. you can literally see Mike go from annoyed about it in august of 2010 to actively preventing kyle from being a co-host for months and then doing promotions for the club but leaving Kyle's name out of the ads. Mike goes is snippy as shit by the end of 2010 and has delusions of grandeur almost with all the money he's spending on cocaine. he basically is all but planning on abandoning the club to party in LA by the time 2011 starts. honestly Mike was clearly becoming less of a team player and more of a hindrance.

seriously though if Mike treated any of his other co-hosts like he treats the blonde whore he has in charge now he would be in a much better pace, Mike would never let any other co-host fuck up and interrupt the way she does.

I started listening in like 2019 and haven't even really listened to the pre trump episodes.

It isn’t all on Jules either. How does Mike not realize saying “you can cut to me” over and over is worse for the show than a camera angle not being to his liking for 5 extra seconds? The camera angles are unnecessary to begin with!

Edit: I think I figured out the missing ingredient in the secret sauce: Tension. Mike is the undisputed champ of pulling the rug out under cohosts and guests. He can’t do that with Jules.

i was going to post that, but the interview sucks. it is hilarious how Mike accidentally destroys the interview by forcing dick to talk about blacks and jews and dick just backpedals hard. you think thats funny, a little later on Mike gets an interview with Shadman. also Mike's views on incest and little girls at the time means its a bit different from normal interviews.

if you really want to be in for a thrill. Mike basically was an obsessive fan of the guy who would eventually start Epic rap battles and basically gives him the career advice that would later make him famous. Mike's handful of TJ miller interviews was good as well just for historic info on that guy's rise to fame, the Kong:Skull island guy was TJ Miller's camerman for all his viral videos and the entire reason that movie even exists is technically because of TJ miller.

Mike really has a knack for finding future infamous/famous people and associating with them.
What were "his views on incest and little girls?" what ep did he interview shadman? I'd love to hear the Dick interview too, I used to be a big fan of his until the show started sucking and then once Jesse did his eps on him Dick was never the same, or perhaps getting a peek behind the curtain so to speak ruined it for me.

I don’t know, I think Jules is fine, she probably speaks less than 1% of the time even at her chattiest. Also I’ve noticed she’ll bring stuff up that starts Mike off on funny tangents when he’s otherwise kind of meandering, like this clip which I found recently only happens because of Jules’ offhand comment about how Mike should get a full body cast https://youtu.be/mG9Qv199tfM

Also, I think the time code shit is hard because they literally watch like every shitty podcast out there, which must be exhausting. I think in the clip of them watching the fucking awful kill tony documentary on the official YouTube account, Mike mentions how even if the fools wanted to get something on Mike, he has such a head start because he’s seen every single episode of kill tony and most of these guys’ podcasts, which sort of stops him in his tracks and he’s like wow, think about that, I’ve seen every episode of Joe Rogan, Joey Diaz’s podcast, Andrew Santino’s podcast… which is a lot of time listening to shit podcasts.

agreed, on the flip side mike doesn't want to do his usual fuckery anymore because most of his audience only knows him from the post-2015 era/the watch era. And him being a douchebag who mocks and attacks his own co-hosts won't work for a lot of people, its one thing to do it to your wife who is playing along like an old comedy act, but to attack the crew is different,

he's bullshiting, it would literally be impossible to do, rogan himself puts out like 20 hours a week of podcasts, with the rest of the fools he'd literally never be able to sleep. he farms out the podcasts to the BBG and they create the time codes for him to comment on, Mike has the same belief about performance as brando does, that its easier/better to perform in the moment rather than rehearse. so most of his stuff has to be live/him watching something the first time.

I still think Mike’s story is one of the biggest wastes of potential. He was always so close to making it big, but his self destructive personality to get a laugh for a few minutes each time kept ruining him. This includes ruining every personal relationship with his “friends” to appease obsessive fans and business ventures like his invitation to SiriusXM. Mikes said as much about his childhood too, he would constantly get in trouble just to get a laugh. He just never matured from it.

He didn’t mature in other ways of course like his credit card fraud aka “the club was stolen from me.” After he got called out for it and lost everything he was traumatized from the event and seemed to lose motivation for the show, so he made the worst decision of deciding to let the fans dictate what the show would be, essentially going from a show run by Mike with different guests and topics with edgy humor to the podcast equivalent of IP2 streamers where fans make edgy donos in order to cause fights and drama, except in addition there were 8 hour drunken and weed fueled sessions of “funny voices” and stupid made up stories only sped kids could find funny.

Everyone also seems to forget mike’s extremely creepy “teens” period of preying on girls who may or may not be 18 and luring them with drugs and booze

It’s not just to get laughs, though that has been the case, Mike is genuinely neurotic and antisocial. The Othy falling out I posted about yesterday was over a facial expression Othy made when Mike called someone a “Jewish bitch” because Mike assumed Othy was simping for his Jewish fiancé. Mike does not let it go, and it ruins the show and their friendship. There are countless examples of Mike burning bridges and getting little to no laughs out of it. In some ways turning his old friends into fools is a cope, a way to make content out of his antisocial self sabotaging behavior.

The teens thing was tongue in cheek because many of his most visible and vocal fans were teenagers (this includes 18 and 19 year olds) and he had gotten a lot of shit for that. It became one of the “too easy” criticisms of the show from his detractors.

Anyway the version of Mike we got in season 13/2015 is very bitter and the show kinda sucks. This is when he was officially shacked up with Jules, and at this point mentions of Kyle, Fritz etc have all but dissipated. I wonder what was going on. He was constantly getting sick despite changing his whole lifestyle and had little to no friends, but that’s all normal for Mike. I wonder if this was around the time he realized he was never going to take Kyle down, nor did he have the discipline or the motivation to create fun exciting content anymore. Idk.

I’m still kinda fascinated by Redbar and love discussing the history, but I think my brain is telling me to take a fucking break from the archives. At the same time the show is objectively worse in season 13. It’s a drag. I just get sad thinking about how insane and hilarious the demon hour episode from 2012 was, and all the fun he was having with live shows and the fans…what happened? The narrative is always that Mike grew bitter from losing the club and his friends along with it, but it wasn’t that simple. It was either a delayed response or something else happened.

Mike only wants what works for him and doesn’t care about anyone but himself. Remember even post takeover he lost Matt Dudley and Ryan Durden because they wouldn’t quit their jobs to work around Red bar’s schedule. Mike had a particular disdain for Ryan not quitting his job because he was a bartender and Mike sees all service work as worthy of ridicule. John leadly left after Mike had a fan grope an under age girl in front of her mom in New York and basically run away from bills

I've come back around on Redbar. Been listening to a ton of clips and longform themed collections on youtube and he really is a funny guy. I can't imagine what a regular day looks like with obviously really weird guy Mike David and Jules. I don't know what Jules' deal is, but she's definitely "off"

The bit about the free speech guy on Rogan at about 6:30:00 in the new episode had me crying laughing, ‘let me suck on your kid’s tits!’

But yeah, I think to an extent their daily life is probably a more extreme version of Redbar, they always talk about like prank calls and can’t remember whether they did it on the show or when they were just by themselves. I’m sure being in a relationship with Mike is weird as fuck, but they must have a healthy relationship, they get along too well on the show. In the most recent episode like 4 hours in Mike goes on some weird tangent about how the town next to them is like empty and a dump, and he’d fix it up by making turning all the highways into rollercoasters, and all the subways into gravitrons, etc. and it’s just a stupid, delirious, stoned rant, but Jules laughs at it harder than I’ve ever heard her laugh. I just feel like, or from my experience, if there’s any tension in a relationship or even sometimes if you’re in a relationship that’s going ok but you’re just arguing or something, the very idea of genuinely laughing at something your partner says is crazy, it’s the last thing you’d do.

Also you have to remember that Jules apparently was into Redbar when she was in high school, I guess her boyfriend at the time was a fan and she also started watching it obviously, but it must have shaped her personality in a twisted way that maybe made it so they’re compatible with each other, who knows.

I really wish he’d buy a foot pedal or something to switch the shots himself. Or at the very least a foot pedal that brings up a light for Jules to know to switch angles.

Yeah this question has been in the back of my mind since the first episode of the season, or even just a few buttons, I don’t get it. They’ve mostly got it down now, but even then it seems like it would be easier to just do it yourself rather than say it to Jules every time. I’ve noticed in older episodes he’s good at multitasking and riding the faders on the mixer with like 3-4 different channels, and in general there’s a lot of shit going on in their studio as far as gear/tech stuff, so it seems like it would be possible to do. Maybe the next time someone emails Mike complaining about Jules they should ask him why he doesn’t do it himself

from what mike has said, redbar is what he's like all the time. there are prank calls and other antics he did even without the cameras there. Also that whole deep dive into Mike's thinking is literally the best part about the show for a lot of fans, especially the long time ones like Jules probably is, Mike will just go on a tangent about something insane, like a town thats a rollercoaster or a resturant made of boogers or a gym full of urine or a black woman eating a bananer.

My favorite part that we don't mention about the redbar comedy club is that mike admits to spending about $130k on drugs while begging the fans to donate money to keep the show going. also its clear from re-listens Mike was in that part of the drug addiciton arc where the main character forgets his friends or why he's so successful in the first place. Mike basically turned on Kyle because Kyle wasn't good at rapping, and blatantly gave up on runing the club after about 8 months to plan on moving to LA with Fritz. also something people forget is that Kyle's lawsuit meant a lot of the episodes were wiped, i bet a lot of the 2012-2018 episodes are so weird because of that.

I really wish he’d buy a foot pedal or something to switch the shots himself. Or at the very least a foot pedal that brings up a light for Jules to know to switch angles.
he can't use his feet thats why.

Michael and Julienne are in a platonic relationship that’s devoid of sexual connotation. Sure, there might be some emotional intimacy and the occasional cuddle/kiss, but they seem more like siblings than happily married couple to my eyes. I wonder if Michael’s sexless marriage has anything to do with his feminine mannerisms, perhaps he’s a closeted gay man? That would help explain his behavior as an adult, but it certainly doesn’t excuse it. Not when you’re forty.

And if anyone thinks Julienne’s happy, take a look at how often she posts on Instagram (she doesn’t). It’s hilarious that even Julienne knows how pathetic her actual life is, but man, she must be a complete wreck if she’s hiding from everyone now. Seriously, what does it say when you don’t have photos of your real life worth sharing? Embarrassed much, Julienne? Yeah, I don’t blame you.

You're saying they don't have sex based on what exactly? To me, happy people don't post on instagram constantly. This kind of relentless a-logging doesn't happen because a comedian you like got made fun of, all your posts on KF are like this. Which former redbar cohost are you?

Unrelated to the above, dafuq is this?

The more I’ve heard, learned and thought about it, the more I think Mike probably deserved the ousting. I’m also completely burned out on Mike and the show now. If anyone has highlight episodes from the archives please share.
Edit: Also if anyone has deleted episodes, let’s get them archived. Mike’s ability to elude standard internet sleuthing and archiving is something else.

Dear kiwis something that have been autisticly wondering about 1 how does redbar do the setup where he uses a tv 2 are there anyone else you know of that uses that in their setup and 3 should i use it when i make my podcast
