Holy shit this guy is such a treat. That post from his son said he used to be a drug addict. I wonder what he was addicted to. Maybe he got some sort of stimulant-induced psychosis. I think it's a bit less likely he was using opiates, but I won't rule it out entirely, since the post also says he's afraid to take pain meds.

I think the core of it is that he's just very, very lonely. I mean, the guy invented himself a family, coupled with very exceptional individuals to care for. Assuming he married his wife when she was 18 and they had their three children relatively quickly, his sons had left home already or were close to when she died. And that was 10 years ago, now they're probably busy with work, maybe their own family.
Loneliness, along with grief, pain, stress from years of taking care of his wife, maybe leftover addiction issues, some social anxiety. And Tumblr. People have gone crazy because of less.
I wouldn't say I feel bad for him, because, you know, it's still a batshit crazy pedo. But still. Definitely a fascinating guy: if his Ancient Guardian is really a self portrait, most people around him probably think he's just a kind of quiet old guy.

Hmm, surprising. Must have been caused or exacerbated by w/d. As for the job, I'm not incredibly surprised. Seems like a guy who got into coding early as a hobby and made a career out of it. He seems to be pretty experienced. How he can keep a job with all this :autism: though... that's the surprising part.
I wonder how recent that picture of him is. He definitely looks middle-aged in the photo, but his hair is pretty brown for a man of 67. I also wonder how he's doing financially. If he's been a developer for his entire career, he should be fairly well off. He doesn't really have that look about him, though. I'm sure most programmers his age are retired, merely working on hobby projects.

I've browsed all seven pages, but I'm guessing that since Murray said "Baby" was 3000 miles away, my guess is that it's a child avatar he's having cybersex with in SL, and not some sort of actual little person he's got a DD/LG thing with (or a figment of his imagination).

If it weren't for the pedo stuff, I'd feel bad for this guy. He reminds me of the Robin Williams character in 'The Fisher King'. Some poor sap who had a terrible few years, then retreated into this weird late 70's sexualised fantasy world. If all the Dani stuff is true, then he has the one thing nearly all the lol cows here lack: actual fucking pathos.

I don't rule out completely that an employer would go that far to hire an autistic with serious skills - but it would have to be skills in something that is extremely rare und difficult. So basically extremely low end technical shit (assembler or machine level, perhaps even working based on knowledge of the physical details which makes the code etremely cryptic, something on the level like this anecdote), because for normal stuff he wouldn't be simply worth it. To make a big program you need a certain minimum of communication skills or you will have big trouble to keep your software alive.

Crunching numbers, if he married her in 1983, she was 14 at the time. He was around 33-35 years old.
Bless the Mormons and their search engine. I can't find a marriage record in the Pinellas Co. clerk of court because those only go as far back as 1987 searching online.

This character has been relatively silent on the internet since about 2006. Registrant of the lysikan.org domain, which was how he was linked to this. Appears to be the patriarch of this group. (Group of what is a question still up in the air).
According to some old listserv mails from 1997, he used the email address “MRoot@mindspring.com”. However, http://publicrecords.directory/profiles/martin-root.6521084.html says that address was used by a MARTIN Root living in Naples, FL. Transcription error? Hard to tell.
He married someone on June 4, 1983 in Pinellas Co., FL. The FamilySearch Florida Marriage Index does not give the bride’s name. At that time, Carolyn Danette Huggins would have been only 14, so it seems unlikely this was their marriage.
Carolyn Danette Huggins Root/Dani/Baby (first) - deceased wife of Murray James Root. Born 30 May 1969; died June 29, 2006, last residence Coweta Co., GA. Lissa claimed in 2006 that Carolyn Danette was her “partner” in a LJ post from December of that year.
