I work in academic research, and as far as moral and policy problems go, this is a pretty normal formulation to me. Usually if you want to get at the meat of a moral principle or taboo or law you have to consider a weird edge case as a hypothetical.
As an example, I read once a formulation in an academic paper, I don't remember the exact wording but this is close: "Say Alice and Bob have known each other for years. They're good friends and one night, on a trip together, they decide to have sex, just once, and that it will be their secret. Bob uses a condom and Alice uses hormonal birth control, and both work as intended. They enjoy it, have no hard feelings, and keep their promises. Was it wrong?"

It's silly, that's not even close to real world examples, which tend to have some other element that makes it immoral, but it does get to the problem of the taboo, what is it exactly--is it exploitation? Consent? Some other form of risk?

At face value, it seems like he’s throwing out one of these morally impossible questions a uni professor would to see how well you can debate through a forced devils advocate. It’s an interesting experience, it definitely sharpens the mind.
But I think we’ve all seen enough on this website to know better. These little fuckers challenge people to catch them by slightly, not explicitly, outing themselves and I don’t think this is much of an exception. Gross.

"Hoste" wrote for a number of less mainstream conservative type websites (Vdare, Counter-Currents, etc.), and had his own hbdbooks.com, which has long since been abandoned and squatted, but can be browsed on archive.org.
