Why do they make changes for people who likely don't even buy their games? Surely they must have research on where their money actually comes from.

It's because some that are part of the video game industry also do have ResetEra accounts and so they use any whining on ResetEra as an excuse to make a bunch of unnecessary changes to said video games.
