Speaking of sedentary nerds, I watch a lot of search and rescue vids and news on hiking/backpacking accidents, and the comments are always retarded. When it's a man needing rescue, the comments are mostly congratulating the SAR team. When it's a woman, the comments are "woman moment, she should be ashamed, she should have known to not go outside, women can't do anything right, another dumb bitch putting other people at risk for an instagram selfie." And the commenters obviously never go outside and have no idea what they are talking about. In one I saw recently, some guy commented that the person needing rescue was stupid for wearing "tennis shoes" (she was wearing Topo trailrunners). In another one, the commenters were claiming the person was inexperienced (she had completed the PCT). Another one, they were making fun of the person for holding onto her phone (she was using it to interface with her inReach to communicate with rescuers). Another was a couple needing rescue and a commenter was lambasting the woman for being "dressed inappropriately" (they were both in shorts). Women solo backpacking seems to especially enrage people, even when nothing goes wrong. I've seen a lot of comments saying it's something women just cannot and should not do.
