God damn, pigeons are super gay.

There was a pigeon in college that would walk inside the building and no one paid him any mind. Other people called him Horace, but I called him Mask because the colors in his face resembled a carnival mask.

We domesticated them, and then abandoned them the second they lost their use to us. it's sick. it's why they're shit at surviving on their own, why they stick to human populated areas, and rely on us for survival. pigeons are more important than people to me. I don't care. I use how people treat street pigeons as a litmus test for psychopathy.
Not only did we abandon pigeons, but we replaced them as our primary pet birds with these cantankerous wild animals just because they can mimic our speech.

Speaking of Mexicans abusing pigeons, one time I was walking by an unattended homeless encampment and noticed a plastic milk crate that had been turned into a cruel bird coop for a captured pigeon. The crate was hanging from a tree and the open end had been sealed shut with a piece of cardboard or something. They had been feeding the pigeon with that greasy yellow Mexican rice, and it was not agreeing with the pigeon's digestion so it was constantly shitting all over. I freed the pigeon before the homeless vagrants returned, but it took a few minutes for the pigeon to regain its wings and fly away after being cooped up in the crate for so long.

Every now and then, I see this same red-tailed hawk strike and kill a pigeon. One time, this hawk was about to make its kill, but it misjudged its approach and just bodyslammed the pigeon instead of striking the pigeon with its talons and beak. The hawk quickly recovered and flew away and didn't bother to return to finish the job, as there were a lot of cars driving by that spooked it. The pigeon was just badly stunned by the force of the impact, but otherwise uninjured.

The pigeon couldn't walk straight or fly, so I put it in a big, empty wooden planter box and loosely covered the top with some wood boards so it could recover overnight, out of sight of the hawk. The pigeon was constantly shivering, so I loosely wrapped it in some old hand towels, and that seemed to help. After about a day, the pigeon recovered enough to fly away.

Here is a picture of the pigeon I took shortly after the attack, when it was still a bit stunned, in front of a colorful mural painting of a pigeon:

Look some of my best friends are pigeons. I had a wild pigga visit me for a year, it would let me handle it and it would chase away the other piggers.
The problem is they are too many and they fucking devour everything. Makes it hard to feed other cuter and/or smarter birds.
