Looks pretty good. One suggestion would be to learn how candle flame works. Here it looks like ground flame, several smaller flames going upwards. Candle flame is one single flame with a central pivot from which the colors change towards the outside.
Agree. Although I'm not entirely happy with the end result, I'm glad to have found a workflow for converting palette shifting to an animated gif. I can't edit my post, so forgive my reposting.

Looks better. It's a good thing you learnt palette shifting even. It's a lost art reserved for grafx2 pixel wizards and dos pixel art. Nowadays people simulate movement in pixels just by drawing each frame, palette shifting was something used within the pc framework and it's limitations.
