This Q cult is just so bizarre and I wonder what kind of person would buy into this nonsense wholesale.

It's not even just that Q's posts are vague or cryptic, they are outright incoherent and nonsensical.
Q posts some random stuff, a couple days later someone will post a news story or a Trump tweet and people will bend themselves over backwards to make Q's post fit at least somehow and that's supposedly proof that Q predicted something.
There's only one reason to be cryptic and that is making your posts as vague as possible, so they can be linked to literally anything that's going to happen.
All they do is confirm is what lengths they are willing to go to in order to connect one thing to another, no matter how much sense it makes.
In that regard, they are a lot like @Brad Watson_Miami, who's using circular logic, a shitton of bias and desperation to prove that he's Jesus Einstein McLincoln. Only here, they try to prove that Q is not just some rando with too much time on his hands. They even got this "crazy schizo from Florida" thing down to the whole "do you believe in coincidences" line.

This whole thing just demands so much blind faith towards some random chucklefuck on the Internet that it's hard to be taken seriously.
You have to blindly believe that there's a war with the deep state.
You have to blindly believe that something is happening.
You have to blindly believe that whatever happened had some kind of effect.
You have to blindly believe that (say) the clintons are now walking around with ankle monitors.
You have to blindly believe that Q's info is not a load of bullshit.
You have to blindly believe that there are connections between Q's posts and random stuff on the net.

Eventually, Q will most likely announce that the deep state has taken a huge hit and its influence has been reduced. He'll claim that they still hold the MSM, but their political power has taken a hit.
And, again, his followers will have to blindly believe it.

I've seen people claiming that Q has to be cryptic in order to stay under the radar, but that doesn't make any sense. For one thing, 4chan has been tapped by 3 letter organizations for over a decade now (I doubt that changed under gook moot) and for the other, how would this prevent him being found out in the slightest? Supposedly, the info he gives out is very specific and legit, so there is no point in doing this, cause he could still be tracked down. If he's being cryptic so his posts aren't caught by special software, I sure like how he's still using a fucking tripcode to identify his posts.

But, then again, there's no reason why Q should be active to begin with. All he does is threatening this supposed war against the deep state by possibly giving away Infos that will help the deep state.

Yet people believe all this, and I legitimately wonder: Why?

It's worth keeping in mind that a lot of the beliefs circulating on /pol/ are predicated on insane conspiracy theories and the average poster there has a tenuous relation to reality that is heavily mediated by a bunch of propaganda news sources. I don't think it's odd that they've managed to suck in a bunch of 'tarded boomers as well, those guys love them some conspiracy. The whole thing just seems like a kind of natural evolution of phenomena like Chanology, Anonymous, and various 4chan hoaxes in the past.

Is this the type of thing that makes people have schizophrenia? I ask seriously because every time I look at some of Q's posts quoted on Twitter like it's a big drop of serious information it reminds me of old cryptography video games suffering from a bug where 80% of the data is missing. This guy can't be, dare I say, gas lighting a mess of people, could he?

From what I can tell, there's a small but vocally stupid group of Trump supporters that somehow thought that Trump would inexplicably stop being Trump on Jan. 20th, 2017 and turn into your traditional politician.

Since then, most of them have come around to the "Trump will be Trump, no changing a 70-year-old" philosophy, but there's a small portion of people so deluded and entrenched in their inability to be wrong that they've convinced themselves that Trump is literally taking apart the entire deep state and career politicians via 82-dimensional chess, secret warrants, and ankle monitors on Hillary Clinton that nobody knows about except Q-anon, because they can't accept the alternative.

So, long story short, I'd say that most of the people who really buy into Q-anon weren't more than a couple of short steps away from schizophrenia in the first place. This is just a focusing point.
