You are correct. The only things I know about Chapo is through osmosis via Twitter and MovieBob, and that one clip of Matt I posted which, I'm sorry but, filled me disdain. Since you were an actual listener would you be able to clarify something for me? Are they full blown commies or is that just me mixing them in with Hasan like you were saying? I genuinely don't know.
I know nothing about Hasan so I can't make that comparison, but my take is that their politics have become much more amorphous since the Sanders flameout, they were all firmly Democratic Socialists prior to that. In case you care:
Will Menaker: Rich kid from the Upper West Side, attended private schools, father was a well-known journalist. Dad got him a job in publishing prior to CTH. Standard New York Times lib on most issues except stuff that he doesn't know much about (like Ukraine or trannies in women's sports), at which point his take is "I don't care, and if you care you're a retard." In a long-term open relationship with a woman who prefers other women and they have lots of threesomes (ask me how I know this), seems very into trans and LGBT issues. Big movie buff and loves to cook. Worst of the bunch by far.
Felix Biedermann: Upper middle class Jewish kid from suburban Illinois. College dropout, gamer, recovering alcoholic, worked menial jobs prior to CTH. Politics are mostly contrarian. Thinks the solution to homelessness is to just give everyone a house. Once pronounced
wantonly as "wonton-ly." Chronically online to the point where even the other hosts have trouble following his jokes and references. Can be funny in small doses.
Amber Frost: Working class daughter of a single mother of indeterminate ethnicity from Indiana. Attended IU and New York University, has held a few teaching positions since then. Actual Marxist and is second to Matt in her knowledge of theory and history. Identifies as a dissident feminist and is the Chapo most likely to be a terf. Has not been on the podcast with any consistency for years, her last major appearance was their episode on the Roe v. Wade ruling. Despite this, she was on the clip that announced Matt's hospitalization and seems to be on good terms with them. Roomed with both Felix and Nick Mullen of Cumtown and likely slept with both. Her first book, a memoir titled
Dirtbag, comes out in December.
Matt Christman: Middle class upbringing, member of a second family to an older father, from rural Wisconsin. Currently on marriage number two to one Amber Rollo, an ascended Chapo stan. The smartest of the Chapos. Encyclopedic knowledge of American history. Loves drunken rants. His politics are all over the map but he's definitely left of center.
Chris Wade: Producer and Matt's partner in the excellent Hell On Earth and Hell Of Presidents podcasts. Seems like a decent guy, don't know much about him.
EDIT: God I can't believe I forgot about:
Virgil Texas: Pseudonym of Justin Cass, Cornell '09. Appears to be at least part Asian and has also said he was raised Catholic, which has led people to speculate that he's of Filipino heritage. The elections wonk of the group, very into party politics. Kind of a dandy. Left the podcast after Bernie's flameout in 2016 because he was so disheartened, and/or because of a very weak cancellation attempt where a woman on Twitter claimed he talked to her when she was underage, though she has never produced any evidence of her claims. After Chapo he did a short run of podcasts, published some essays, and then dropped off the face of the earth.
