If Chapo is anti establishment how did they get interviews with Bernie and Yang?
I mean, they are anti-establishment in the literal sense. They hate the two party system and the entrenched political/media interests in the US.

Yang is a political curiosity. Bernie did interviews with pretty low-impact entities partly bc the MSM hates him. does having any clout makes someone establishment? If so, does anyone count if they become popular?

Healthcare pls. Workers rights pls.
I'm steadily becoming a nazbol. Stalin would have had these people shot and that's a good thing.

Nice write-up. I'm always a big fan of looking at the art someone uses when they're trying to trick their ~180k thousands on social media that they're following some hip, with-it ironically dirtbag leftist that totally owns old piece of shit nobodies like Rush, Andrew, and Noam...

*Snip*

The pathetic thing about this is that the Chapos are incapable of being cool in any way. You can't have this persona of being hip and with it when you're a Brooklynite celebrity. You'll never be with the proletariat. You've never been among the workers. You don't go to DSA meetings. I don't think they were out there during the protests in the summer. In fact, I'm pretty sure they were largely silent during it?
Some of them come from rich backgrounds but at this point all of them are rich. They're the very bourgeoisie they rail against. Mind you, there were rich communists who betrayed their class. Lenin was a lawyer, Kropotkin was a prince, Engels was a factory owner. The difference? Those people didn't sit there and do a fucking podcast and make millions off arthoes and white men who really like to go on twitter and cancel you for being white and then login to wherever the fuck these people are and have the thousandth 'struggle session' over whether or not femboy is a slur or whichever argument of the day it is. That's what's pathetic: it's a bourgeoisie comedy podcast for similarly well off people. The 'Chapo Community' has had numerous polls on it's audience. It's almost entirely white men and trannies.
Exactly one kind of person interfaces with Chapo and it's not anyone part of the 'proletariat'.
Mind you, the argument isn't 'white people bad', the argument is that for a seemingly progressive podcast it has exactly one kind of listener from one sort of group and there's no actual diversity to be had, even though they'll harp on all day about it. I think it's extremely telling that nobody but these dorks have any interest. You just can't get black people into Chapo. They don't give a shit.

The only reason I even know about these guys is because through Mister Metokur (or one of his followers) mentioning Matt Christman getting absolutely blasted during this stream in 2018.

I wish I had kept the link to a reupload of the stream. It's still on youtube, iirc, but it's unlisted.

Matt: KILL YOURSELF. KILL EVERYONE YOU KNOW.
Virgil: No, NO, no...

How is it actually possible that they make $170,323 a MONTH on Patreon? I don't even think a podcast hosted by AOC and Bernie themselves would take in that much. Are there any theories on this?
There are multiple factors.
- They got lucky by being among the first ones to capitalize on Bernie supporters and left wing people discontent with Democrats
- They rode on cumtown's coattails initially
- They are rich kids with connections and op-ed writers. That allows them to have publications like The New York Times to market the podcast through fluff pieces while ignoring controversies
- Most of their audience are terminally online twitter addicts, upper-middle class or rich kids larping as communist revolutionaries. In other words, idiots who eagerly throw money around and will share everything they do on social media.
- They spice up their podcasts with occasional twitter humor or bit stolen from cumtown, rants, mildly offensive language, and pop culture references, combining low budget political show with friend simulators
All of that is a perfect recipe for popularity. Besides patreon, they also host live events, sell books, and merchandise. They do not invest much into the podcast either, so that lets them pocket a lot of the money.

I suppose it can be summed up with the old adage: "a fool and his money are soon parted."

But how much of their earnings do these avowed-socialists donate towards the poor & hungry?

didnt this sub get perma banned? Is this a historical write up?

Is that still the case? seems like that podcast was very 2018ish. How have they held up today?

They are #2 on Patreon. Only True Crime Obsessed is bigger than Chapo Trap House as of now. I suspect that all the money and attention will go to hosts' heads sooner or later. They will splinter, their audience will abandon them as they will get more and more out of touch, and looming economic crisis will hit their patron's pockets. Splintering already began if you count Virgil leaving to start his own podcast.
People on the original subreddit began turning on hosts already, about a year before sub was banned. Amber got the most heat, but rape jokes, use of "retard," and Cosby's walk of fame star photo caused some trouble too. Hosts disdain some of their fanbase too, and celebrated subreddit's banning.

Not as much as they could. There was a minor controversy about it within CTH listener community. Amber was the only one who donated max allowed sum to Bernie. Other threw pittance, and Virgil nothing. They did up their donations after listeners started bitching. Unfortunately, I do not have receipts for it, as sub got banned and I never followed the community seriously enough to archive much before the ban.

Amazing, especially since they’re so quick to label everyone else a “grifter.”

At least they don't defend Pol Pot, right? Right?
No, Pol Pot defense is normally forbidden in Leftist spaces. There's regularly fights over whether or not ironic Pol Pot memes should be allowed. So edgier leftists like to post it and usually get in trouble.

T. banned from at least one server for Pol Pot memes.
