Containment Random Thoughts & Questions

Hello!

I am a PhD student at the University of Toronto within the Faculty of Information. My background is in History and I have completed my Masters in Library and Information Science.

I am currently researching the documentation and archival process that has taken place during the first decade of the 21st century (from 2001-2010) in regards to what i like to term as the "Golden Age of Internet Trolling" before it became more widespread than before and had warped into something else. I am particularly motivated of learning the concept and reasoning behind such a process.

I have known about Christopher (or Christine if you prefer) Chandler in the early 2000s but have never participated and only watched from the sidelines. It is only when I began my PhD research that I remembered the Chris-Chan was one of the prime candidates within this "Golden Age" and through my digging in both the CWCwiki and other places, I came across this forum.

I was wondering if it is still possible to connect and have a short discussion (Q&A mostly, some descriptive outlines) with a number of people who were active in this area? While I realize that some (such as BlueSpike) would be disinclined to interview due to their own actions, I feel it would still be worthwhile to connect to them in an attempt to understand their process and their background when trying to approach this topic.

Any help would be appreciated in this matter. As per the FAQ I am also tagging ( @The American Hedgehog, @Karen Riley, @Marvin, @Alec Benson Leary, and @yawning sneasel ) in an effort to get their help.

Thank you!
:jacewow:

Okay, I haven't kept up with everything but I just watched GiBi's latest recap video, in which he mentions one of the Praetor people posted "between the KiwiFarms":

"I knew about Christine for a long time. however, I felt bad for her..." etc.

I searched for the message but can't find it here. Was it just a private message to someone here, or was it posted but then deleted for some reason?

why did troonchan's hair become so frizzy? when he was just regular chris, it seemed like his hair was pretty straight and looked somewhat clean. I wonder if maybe it's a combination of:
age
damaged (it has to be this, his seaweed green mess definitely is not that color with proper care.)
heat (I doubt he's brave enough to even plug in a blow dryer in his bathroom though :smug: )
lack of moisture

I also read it's possible to overbrush and make it frizzy? I'm not a hair guy so I wouldn't really know, but him overly brushing his hair seems likely, since he thinks that what girls do all day: shop at a mall and brushing their hair.

Chris getting the "Prickly-Wicklies" from the concept of "fiction" - and thinking all of it "happens in another dimension" - shows he lost his weak grasp of the concept of "imagination".

They never invite the special ed students to actual reunions. I mean, Chris' biggest accomplishment that he could share with others is that he cut back on eating his boogers from 5 times a day to twice a day.
Neither do they invite those they thought had potential to be school shooters. Ah, what a shame. No sense of adventure. Not every misfit is as dull as Chris.

If they had invited Chris, they could have sold photos of his retarded antics for years and made many bux off of weens. But perhaps it still would not have been worth it.

How come Chris never wore shorts back in the classic days? Even in the middle of summer he toughed it out in jeans in 90+ degree weather.

I will admit that his scrawny chicken legs would've looked really weird in shorts so it probably would not have been a flattering look for him, not that anything else he wears ever is...

I'd guess the same reason he put an armband on the back of his neck when wearing the medallion; some autistics are very sensitive to sensations such as touch, and he probably felt naked or irritated by having bare legs. I think wearing heavy clothes in spite of climate is kinda common with autistics.

Chris gets people he never met to be his paypigs. All he does is goes on Twitter and begs and a bunch of autists give him money. I'd say he profits just fine off of his (relatively) low level of fame
Chris does well from his low effort online begging although he probably does have the potential to be making a lot more since he’s the most famous lolcow on the internet which is a small niche but I’d argue full of people with disposable income who’d throw money at Chris for attention given the opportunity if he was a bit more proactive and willing to do regular livestreams (Playing games while talking about his life or whatever he’s watched on tv or something like that) and answer questions from people who send him superchat donations or whatever.

Age can change a person's hair, so a person with straight hair can have wavy hair as they age (or as the hair turns gray/white.) It could also be damaged from improperly dye usage. Seeing as his hair always looked greasy when he was young I'd say it's more likely age and damage than from his hair being too dry

I'm just curious to see if anyone has any theories as to why Michael Snyder doesn't make an appearance in Chris's comic. (If he does please correct me) Villians like Walsh, Clyde Cash and the Jerkops make an appearance, but no Snyder.

Any ideas?

He used to hate the various persons / entities you cited, and they were indeed acting like some sort of shitty antagonists in his tiny world of retards and recolors. However, Snyder was more like a big gate to heaven he wanted to stay open than a real ennemy. Don't forget that his drawings were serious business to Classic-Chris, with actual consequences in the real world. If he was hoping or expecting something from you, (forgiveness, for instance) in his mind, drawing you like a vilain or a dumb fuck could reduce the chances of that happening, and increase your grudge against him somehow. Chris wanted Snyder to remove the ban as a priority, and drawing being a way to manipulate reality / his reality, he couldn't risk it. That's my own interpretation at least. In short - Death Note : The Retards version

If I killed Chris, put Barb out as a scarecrow and kept his twitter up as Sonichu, how fast would people realize.
Just asking
