Lol, the OP is great. Some cop-hating transtrender who thinks fictional characters matter more than real people.

I just read like 200 words in the language I grew up in and understood about 10% of them. How the fuck is this person real?

Apparently self-deprecation is self-harm.

The OP is benign enough if you take it from a "this person is mentally ill and they use self-deprecation because they have actual, clinical self-esteem issues". But the notes are filled with people insisting that nobody ever use self-deprecating humor because it's "inherently unhealthy" (and powerleveling about how everyone should agree with them because "my therapist says it's unhealthy too!"). Because everyone who uses self-deprecating humor is mentally ill, of course.

Because obviously when someone says "lol, I'm trash" they are always being serious and not telling a joke in the moment.

One of my least favorite Tumblr trends is when Tumblr users start preaching about a topic and insisting that I take them seriously because they've "studied psychology" or "this is what my doctor/therapist says!"

What do these idiots think self harm is? Because it ain't being humorously or ironically critical of yourself. That's called having a sense of humor and recognizing your own faults. Understanding and coming to terms with your shortcomings is like, the opposite of self harm.

You would think yelling at people who use self deprecating humor as being awful and insensitive wouldn't help then either? Yet I've never seen Tumblrinas really care about someone other than themselves.

I think only a pure narcissist would think making light of your own faults to lighten a situation is self harm. It seems like a lot of the people can't come to understand they aren't all that great and amazing and the slight idea or realization they might be bad upsets them to the point they need to drown out that notion with needless fluff. It's more harming to constantly think you're the absolute best and to love awful decisions and be enabled for them.

"Violently assaulting my political opponents unprovoked and screaming 'NAZI' at anyone I don't like makes my side look good and definitely doesn't lend my enemies credence when they say they're being unjustly oppressed for speaking their views! I am very smart, and I am also definitely the victim in this scenario."

Seriously. It just reeked of hyper-sensitivity and that sort of overbearing, cloying "Here, let me give you permission to police other peoples' language because it's for their own good" thing that Tumblr does a lot.

And as I mentioned, there are loads of people in the notes going on about how their therapists/mental health professionals are telling them that self-deprecation is inherently bad, no bueno, unhealthy, not okay; ergo, they feel justified in projecting their own self-esteem issues onto everyone else. The fact that it's your therapist telling you this should maybe alert you to the fact that while you might have mental health-related self-esteem issues, it doesn't mean that the rest of us do.

History never claimed that punching Nazis was effective. Shooting them, on the other hand, yielded tremendous results for the Allies during World War II. Probably because they were actual fucking Nazis and not "some pro-Trump dude on the internet who said something that offended me".

The JoJo side of Tumblr keeps on delivering.

You know, the simple way of summing it all up would be "mature content, which includes drugs, sexual content, and graphic violence". A few of the worst examples would have been enough to give the gist.

I swear half of these "trigger" lists for various shows/movies/whatever are performative wokeness: They're not making the lists for the sake of the people who need to know what content is in the media, they're making it so they can show everyone "See! See! Look how sensitive I am to these issues! Look at ALL the problematic stuff I found! Aren't I just the most Aware(TM) person?"

If you decide you don't give a shit about the problematic content in JoJo and just watch it for fun and/or enjoy the memes and fan content you're labeled a dudebro and are declared one of the Bad Fans for not Thinking Of The Children.

JoJo fans on Tumblr are often exhausting because they usually hate JoJo. Like, not as a joke. I don't get it.

So, like those "SU Critical" fans?

I will never understand how these people get into Jojo. I mean, I get that it's 99% posturing to look woke and cool but jesus. The mere thought of spending the time to compile and write a list like this is exhausting. They could have spent that time, I dunno, maybe reading the manga?
Not to sound like one of those fans (especially bc these kind of people infesting the community are essentially the reason most of the people I know into Jojo just don't bother posting about it any more), but the Jojo community was a hell of a lot better back in like, 2014.

Got another case of SJWs eating their own. An SU critical blog's owner was caught following the most evil Nazi of all on Twitter: Justin Trudeau. Because of this, she needed to be harassed off the site.

You know, every time I see someone with "follows =/= endorsements" in their Twitter bio I think they must be crazy because no one reasonable considers Twitter follows to be inherent endorsements of someone. But then I see shit like this and realize why they might feel the need to put that disclaimer in.

That's not even Jojo. There are plenty of (relatively) adult-oriented fandoms that flip their shit over mature content too: Grand Theft Auto series, Silent Hill series, the Far Cry series, BioShock- I was ready to bust a gut when (even before it was released) people were screeching about misogyny because the first level of Detroit: Become human involved a little girl being held hostage. Would you have rather the bad guy been holding a gun to the head of a little boy? Would that have been more acceptable to you?

I just genuinely do not get it. Video game series like Far Cry are known for their mature content and their villains. Silent Hill is known for its graphic, horrific violence and imagery. Detroit: Become Human was very clearly stated to be an M-rated game that would deal with topics like slavery, violence, and civil rights. And Grand Theft Auto- fuck, I don't think they've had a game in that series that hasn't been controversial thus far.

Why would you even play these games knowing that this is the content? Why are you morally posturing about a game whose shtick is "fucked up violence and sociopathic characters"?

And these people will preface every pissy, self-righteous rant they make with "oh I totally love the game b u t" They want me to believe that they love this Thing so much, but over half the time they talk about it they're complaining about it. And if you suggest that maybe they should A) stop engaging with the media that offends them so much, or B) restrict their bitching to their own blog/personal groups so the rest of us can enjoy the thing in peace, they lose their minds and insist that we're "refusing to acknowledge" the problematic aspects of the media and are therefore problematic ourselves.

What's better is when they say that the piece of media is grabbing them by the balls and forcing them to engage with it because they're "hyperfixating" on it and can't stop. Hyperfixating is an actual thing, but it's not something that you can't stop doing. If you legit hate it so much why would you keep zeroing in on it?

lol, I've heard that one before a few times.

Though most of the time I've heard someone get called out on constantly shitting on a game they claim to love, their reaction has primarily been to defend the shitting. In their eyes, they don't have to walk away- everyone else needs to stop being so damn problematic. That and the hyper-fixation claims are just another way of saying "I should never have to take responsibility for my own media consumption. Media should cater to my sensitivities all day every day, or it's Bad. I should be allowed to complain ruthlessly about this media in a public space full of people who like it, and expect not to receive any criticism in return because my opinion is Right and theirs is Wrong."
