I'm surprised these guys still watch Star Wars movies. They clearly don't like it anymore, and there's nothing wrong with that. The franchise isn't the same as it was when it started nearly 50 years ago, and even if it were, people and their tastes change. You don't have to like the same thing at 48 as you did when you were 10. In fact, you probably shouldn't.

Isn’t the black void gimmick irrelevant when they don’t even do HitB sketches anymore?

Their "shows" are such a mess. Half in the Bag is the same as re:View, which is the same as the Black Void, which is the same as Mike and Jay Talk About -- and new movies are becoming so bad that all of the above are barely distinguishable from Best of the Worst.

It's literally our world, but with fantasy races as allegory, and it's actually kind of retarded.
As a racist I enjoyed Bright.

Mostly because it's so retarded that the pathetic attempts at allegory fall so flat that they become comedy
>orcs are a stand in for blacks
>in the movie they are violent subhuman gangbangers that are irritating and retarded

>elves are jews
>in the movie they are rich, evil, and scheming assholes

Really made me think.

Wasn't Max Landis cancelled shortly after that?

Mike states that they needed a sassy girl for the main cast of The Mandelorian and Grogu while showing this image of Gina Carano who was cancelled for saying things Disney didn't like. Makes you think.

Rich is quickly getting on my nerves.

The point of this exchange is to show that RLM aren't completely out of touch with reality and can admit that current Disney product is not better than what the Plinkett reviews shit on the prequels for. They aren't just blind haters. But Rich quickly has to reiterate that, yes, he is in fact a blind hater cause despite throwing one last barb at the prequels, the sequels are left completely unscathed.

I'll slightly disagree.
Half in the Bag was supposed to be for current releases.
Re:View was supposed to be for movies from the past that they find interesting, good or bad.
Black Void was supposed to be for arthouse crap.
Mike and Jay Talk About was supposed to be about talking about shit that doesn't fit either of the previous shows, such as analyzing the career of that one faggot who is recently in a lot of horror movies, Kyle Gallner.

Perhaps over time, they forgot but that was the initial idea of making so many shows.
>in the movie they are violent subhuman gangbangers that are irritating and retarded
Not only that.
In the past, they were tricked by the ultimate elven Antifag who had them burn, loot and murder until they were defeated by the law enforcement.

One thing that I find so... bewildering is that the sequels have true fans that aren't there just to protect the ideological and political background that created them, but because they're truly invested on the story of the movies and they will go through Olympic levels of mental gymnastics to explain the many plotholes and bad storytelling because they like the characters and some of the storylines.

In their defense, I'll say that as bad as they can be, at least they try to tell a story and they tryyy so hard to make a coherent saga; it just happens that the people involved are all idiots who can't make good stories. But the attempt is there and if you shut off your brain, you can enjoy them. If Rich Evans somehow enjoys some of this about the sequels... I guess good for him, I guess. I personally think that the plot of the prequels is more interesting than the plot of the sequels, but to each their own. Maybe Rich likes that the sequels have a more simple plot than the blockages and political shenanigans of the prequels and while I personally don't agree, I can see the point made.

And it's not that they are "better", it's just that everything related to Grogu is just to make us consume the character. There is nothing interesting about it except that it's a cute puppet. That can't sell a movie just like that. It's such a mediocre product that ain't even bad or good, it's just there.

No, this is not true, even if we ignore Rian Johnson altogether. Rise of Skywalker doesn't even fit the definition of a movie: a series of scenes played in a sequence to tell a story.

I am kind of curious what they’d say about this one, especially Mike and Rich.
Piets. Probably the same low IQ cynicism drivel they've been peddling for the better part of two decades. They were wrong about the prequels. We saw the vision for Star Wars with JJ Abrams, its complete dog shit. The prequel walls really aren't. The worst Star Wars movies imaginable?
Red Little Media Is Everything Wrong with Gen X. Summed up into two homosexuals.

Again, it's the same general X nihilistic homosexuality that all general X reviewers are known for. General X won't. Let it go that the prequels. Are ultimately made for kids and that they're angry that it didn't appeal to people who were in the. Late 30s when they came out.
Guess what? When I watched all the Star Wars prequels, I liked them. You know why? Because I was 9. And the made for children.
Also, it proves the point that George Lucas understands Star Wars way better than anyone else. And that they would never let the fact that Star Wars was destroyed not under his leadership. Imagine telling someone. In 2010, that Star Wars in ten years would be. Completely and utterly worthless. Same thing with Halo as a franchise. Those people would call you a nut job.

It used to bug the shit out of me until I just sort of realized that people watch movies or TV shows or whatever for different reasons.

I like a good narrative that might have cool special effects, fun/good performances, etc. RLM is like that as well, but they don't really care about craft, they just want to be entertained in a very specific way, much like the picky kid who will only eat Dino Nuggies for dinner.

Some folks just want a spectacle and want to see explosions or lightsabers or whatever and have Good Guys beat The Bad Guys. Because that's about as nuanced mainstream modern storytelling can get these days (see also: the apparently super maligned ending to the Boys.) I've seen people have discussions about the Wire, one of the most brilliantly written and shot TV shows, basically devolve into Goku vs Superman-tier discourse with the various black drug dealers in the show.

Other people might just be a stan for a particular actor. Or a brand. It's something that I honestly can't get my head around -- I never understood it when KISS were the licensing merchants that they were and had a rabid following, and I don't get it now with Disney or MCU or whatever.

People who see the sequels as 'their' movies are defensive because having Carrie Fisher or Mark Hamill or whatever gives it legitimacy and it gives the impression that they are 'good' because of that association. Also, people just get a hair up their ass when someone says something they like sucks.

I think RLM kinda falls into this, as they really want to like new Star Wars, but there's a massive generational gap and I don't think that they actually enjoy them but want to defend them.

I'd like for there to be new Star Wars that I personally enjoy, but I'm not a YouTube pop culture critic who rose to fame criticizing a media franchise, so I just carry on with my day and do something else.
