And yet when AI comes for those jobs, theyll cry again cause theyre the starbucks barista brigade and unskilled labour is a capitalist myth. Im also quite afraid by AI to be honest but I dont let it rot my brain. Ill probably lose my job and hobbies to some worthless machine but its inevitable unfortunately.

Its the delusion that gets me with these people.
Only like 10% of people that managed to get into and finish art school actually made a living in the arts back in 2014, the autistic redditor with a hazbin icon most likely would not have been part of that 10% anyways (especially not if the chosen field is animation) and would BE the house cleaner if their parents wouldnt bail them out.
And all those hyper talented and hardworking Japanese animators are paid in sawdust.

Art is fucked in general anyways. Its one of those very few industries where there is no job security for the large majority cause its contract work and people get paid next to nothing cause its easy for the corpos to force negotiations. Every industry in general is suffering generally cause nobody wants to take risks and everythings become sanitized automated crap but art suffers more than tech cause its a lot more riskier than tech. This is completely unrelated to preddits delusions of being great artists cause jellybean crap was a coincidental effect of budget cutting animation in the early 2010s which eventually became pushed heavily in the art sphere by absolute tards and is the kind of artstyle preddit promotes. People are also given less training so early 20s like me suck at art a lot more than they did 30 years ago, at least if theyre not grinding all day breaking knuckles drawing.

It was a different world in the early 2000s. Outright lolcows like Andrew Dobson and Shmorky got offers to work for Disney and Adult Swim despite not being very good artists to put it mildly.

That shit would never happen now with AI and heavily outsourced labor.

I was moreso hinting that on top of being untalented, the average redditor is lazy (its the home of antiwork, after all) and autistic but not in a way that makes them dedicated (shitting out mass amounts of their autism daily the way many lolcows do).

In general, animation in the west is not doing great. Outside of some dedicated fans, weebs and children (who prefer youtubers over tv more and more), people prefer basic live action thats also cheaper to produce.
I remember a thread on reddit about the most watched netflix shows being revealed and they were SO confused on why the list looked like that/not even knowing the shows because theyre so disconnected from the average person. Meanwhile, the 'popular' unjustly cancelled show was only popular on reddit/twitter. The only actually successful animation is paw patrol and cocomelon.

Only some internet spaces give an actual shit about animation, so it's pretty funny seeing the terminally online freak out so much over ai replacing jobs that didn't exist in the west to begin with and putting it at higher value and importance than normal jobs while animation isn't even that big in entertainment.

AI writers and actors are a way bigger threat to entertainment than anything animating related. Those people also actually striked, negotiated and donated, current year (wannabe) animators dont seem to do much except reee on reddit that the government should make ai illegal.

Some power janny u/olivermarkusmalloy and comic artist I've never heard of wrote this long article bitching about how him and his friends, or possibly all his sock accounts, keep losing their mod positions. It's a fascinating look at mental illness. This guy uses a bunch of sock accounts to drive traffic to his political subs that he created and modded. What set him off is an Admin gave him a sitewide ban/suspension and banned all the mods on all his subreddits :story:
