Lmao. The U.S. is the #1 country, per capita, when it comes to drug overdose deaths. It's possible to laugh at a good burn without getting one's panties in a bunch, getting defensive and unironically simping for addicts experiencing the consequences of their own actions.

If anything, the real story here is that it once again shows that 95% of their beliefs are held purely to win arguments and will be discarded the moment they become inconvenient. Being pro-OD is le good suddenly so long as it hurts Evil Orange Man. (Ironic to see some people here make the exact same mistake by simping for drug addicts cause muh Fuck Yeah America. I guess we suddenly have to be all bleeding-heart about them now and pretend it's not an issue.)

My issue with the thread was less about drug overdoses and more about the hypocrisy you pointed out in your second paragraph here. People should be able to mock or laugh at anything they want but when you're entire worldview is about pretending to care about the downtrodden and then you are openly mocking them because of TDS it's pretty stunningly hypocritical.

You know what's funny? Renee Good's death is even more clearly justified then Floyd's accidental death by a good margin and yet they still defend it. With Floyd there is an actual argument to be made the cops used excessive force on him. Renee literally taunted cops, her wife yelled DRIVE BABY DRIVE and she drove at them with the intention of either maiming or killing him. Floyd did none of that. It's far more clear cut then Floyd's I can't breathe shit and yet they still defend.

In like the early 2010s reddit users were mostly the same guys you'd find on forums and imageboards, you were allowed to be edgy or whatever and real discussion happened, something shifted and it's hard to even pinpoint when. If I had to guess it was around the 2016 election, the whole internet kind of declined around then. When it comes to censorship and purges reddit was first. Reddit was going full censorship before Trump was even in the primary for the 2016 election. Reddit paved the way for all of it; even Tumblr was more right wing than reddit. This is why I laugh when people say this situation was because of Trump. It was going to happen regardless. If anything he gave us a fighting chance.
