I highly doubt this person has ever even stepped into a gym so of course they don't care. One of the things I've found super amusing with all the Covid stuff is how you can see this weird sort of hatred for gyms from those that don't understand the importance of them anytime people complained about them having to close. Not only are gyms good at keeping you in shape and healthy physically, but it also does loads to improve your mental health. For many people going to the gym has been the one thing helping their mental state not completely spiral during the last couple years, yet you have these people that don't care or understand that.

That's not even talking about how places like reddit seem to have a strong hatred of gymbros, yet from everyone I've heard from they are some of the nicest most helpful people that'll gladly show new people the ropes. I've even heard of them telling people to fuck off and leave if they find them recording or making fun of overweight people trying to get fit at their gyms.

generally this is true, people in gyms tend to be very understanding and helpful with newcomers. The only time i ever saw anyone jocking about another person in a gym setting was because the dude in particular had spent weeks using the machines wrong but refused anyone who kindly offered him help so he became a bit of a meme.

The amount of people on reddit in particular who were saying "just go for a jog if exercise is so important to you", because that's totally the same as powerlifting and people can just switch disciplines overnight. These people obviously never lift a finger to the point where they can't imagine enjoying exercise, never mind it being important for their wellbeing.

It's killed (officially) almost 700,000 people in America. They know they're endangering people's lives. Everybody knows someone: an acquaintance, or coworker, or friend, or family member who has died of Covid. They know it's just a small inconvenience to be vaxxed and wear a mask in crowded rooms. This is the hill they literally want to die on because they've wrapped up too much of their identity in it.

I would add that this sub is filling a void that, in a healthy media landscape, would be filled by daily front-page stories documenting how specific individuals' consumption of disinformation killed them--and how their dissemination of it killed others. There are very rare instances in which politeness and decorum no longer are a good in themselves, but rather a harmful acquiescence to forces that endanger a society's survival. This is one of those times.

Yeah - how are there not hundreds of these stories every day? Filmmaker/Journalists… please work with hospitals and pay patients if you have to so you can get cameras into hospitals. The world is not seeing what’s really happening.

Journalists who want a hot take: I know how these award winners feel about me. I voted for Obama, Clinton, and Biden. I live in a large coastal city with my Latino immigrant gay-married husband and neither of us has been to church in 30 years. I know they hate me and everything about me. They tell me every single day, repeatedly. I'm not cheering these deaths. But neither am I shedding any tears. And it's really hard not to fall into the mindset of thinking the world gets a little better with every one of them that croaks. Anyone else think this sounds extremely fake? If the wife has recently been unable to stop pointing out any and all imaginary racist incidents, why would she have kept the biggest and most egregious to herself for TWO YEARS? Yeah she says "oh I just wanted to protect you" but what if the husband got attacked later for the same reason? Also, if the kid was sleeping in the car/carseat, how the fuck did the teenager in the parking lot even notice what race a 1 year old was? A 1 year old is not likely to sleep through a shopping trip and being transferred into a car in the middle of the day unless they're extremely exhausted for some reason. If she didn't see the kids face, how did she know it was a teenager? This shit has more holes than a cheese grater.

this would be a far-fetched story even if it was a mulatto child we're talking about here, and with a half asian kid it's even more outlandish, for two reasons:
first, racism against asians is extremely uncommon among whites. virtually all of it is directed at niggers, jews, muslims, and various third worlders (in descending order of importance)
second, distinguishing a half white half asian toddler from a regular white toddler is quite a feat, they look extremely similar. this sometimes persists all the way into adulthood, even king hapa himself (elliot rodger) would be seen as a regular white guy by looks alone, if he hadn't broadcast his hapa heritage everywhere barely anybody would have known. i don't believe random teenagers who saw that kid sleeping inside the car would even recognize it as hapa.
