I talked to someone who was really into that conspiracy theory once and it was trippy. I could literally show a photo of an old book from my dad's library* showing that it was always recorded that way/spelled that way/remembered that way, back in 1982 or 1968 or whatever. And this person would just be like "well how do I KNOW the book is REALLY that old?" The level of emotional investment these people have in their theory is beyond the investment people have in far more serious theories.Maybe I'm just really late on this one but have you guys ever looked at subs like MandelaEffect and similar ones? Instead of just admitting that their memory is not perfect they think that reality is changing and that we live in a simulation because there's somehow no way they could just just misremembered something after many years have passed. There's another similar one where they actually think that other people around them are NPCs and that we live in a simulation.
Just your average Reddit stupidity or another level of mental illness combined with narcissism?
*never throwing anything out in his entire life at least helps with winning internet disputes
