The worst part of the review is the line about being deemed unfit for War service without mentioning the TB that rendered him unfit to serve and would eventually kill him very much a why did you frame it like that? moment for me.

That's not even true, though. The Nazis had extensive dealings with IBM and kept meticulous records on Hollerith cards. That's why it is one of the most documented regimes from that period of history.

Huxley is a huckster he literally was one of the fathers of Fabian socialism and wrote most of the denialist race papers for the UN

Drugs in this case mean mostly meth, GHB (only other use for that one is date rape) and „poppers“, which are an assortment of cleaning chemicals you can buy under fake names in sex shops and inhale through the nose, which will give you a very short high and also make you relax your butthole/ignore pain in your butthole.

That is because love is love and it has nothing to do with hedonistic decadence.

In my country it's mainstream to use a term literally translated as "live-together".

It's not your boyfriend/girlfriend, not your husband/wife. It's this individual you live at the same address as.

It's extremely bugman, and irks me every time I hear it.

I don't even think it's used to be heckin' gender inclusive. It has gotten so normalized to think of yourself as this legal entity, unit 4675488, rather than a divine being. Absolute spiritual bankruptcy.

He never considered his ideology fundamentally terrible, but he was one to not sweep for people just because they called themselves fellow socialists and was fully willing to castigate failings. It's why besides his critiques of totalitarian socialist states, he outright says that he can't blame people for being turned against socialism when the kind he sees in the West is most promulgated by effete petite-bourgeois liberal women.
 
I like the idea behind /ExplainBothSides but all it does is show how these people are fundamentally unable to even consider a viewpoint different from theirs and have no fucking clue what "the other side" believes beyond a grotesque cartoon villain parody.

Huxley also wrote later Island in which some of the stuff he shown as dystopian in Brave New World such as drugs, group living and promiscuous sex was actually le good. The man had some interesting ideas but his brain got fucked up by drugs in his later years.

While arguably modern society can be closer to Brave New World than 1984, dissenters in Huxley's book were treated rather mildly and only got exiled. I'd say modern dystopia is mostly aiming for 'Brave New World' settting for the general populace and for '1984' against wrongthinkers.

I didn't vote last election. My groceries rose 30 percent in cost while food stamps increased, gas skyrocketed, and we're in the middle of a Canada tier migrant crisis. I guess you can say I learned my lesson.

Reddit loves to tout the book 1984. It's fucking hysterical to watch their admins and mods control the reaction to this debate.

I feel sorry for Orwell for 1984 being ruined by the absolute retards who incessantly cite it for shit where it's completely irrelevant. Having it used as a model for an Apple commercial can't have been any more pleasing, considering Apple nearly instantly turned into exactly the stereotype that commercial mocked.

It's actually insane. You have to see it for yourself. It started occurring the moment news outlets, including CNN and MSNBC, declared that Democrats are panicking.
