I think he is unaware of the fact that the term "race" has slightly different connotations in the United States than Europe. It's still closely associated with the race biologists of the 19th and early 20th century and the nazis here.
That being said, he is right about American identity politics. The majority of the most stupid ideas that European left-wingers like to propagate for can be traced back to the rotting stink ditch that is the American left.

Has anyone every been on the "Popheads" subreddit? https://www.reddit.com/r/popheads/ It's a minority, female, gay dominated Subreddit and There was a post about them complaining about how Reddit was dominated by "straight, white males" and they were basically acting like they were so much better then them.
There was an old comment (that unfortunately been deleted) talking about "diversity" in American pop music and when someone mentioned about "Asian" popstars in America, someone mentioned Shakira is part Asian because Her father is Lebanese making her half West Asian. said user was downvoted.
Those same people went in another thread about "black female popstars" and they were upvoting posts and preaching about how "Not everyone in Africa is black, Latinos come in every shade and color" but it's funny how the standards change for other groups.
