That's exactly what bewilders me the most about this paper. It does sound like a fun and interesting topic to write about... 10 years ago. If you are of strong progressive alignment, it doesn't make sense to highlight Kiwi Farms as uniquely evil when soyteens on twitter mock and satirize suicide victims without repercussion, racist reels are flooding instagram and Facebook quietly dropped transness as one of the marginalized groups it's willing to protect from it's TOS. Pre-covid? Sure, the mainstream internet was substantially more progressive at that time, Tumblr used to be seen as mainstream and twitter was widely disliked by conservatives for holding disproportional favoritism towards leftists. There wasn't really anything specifically targeted towards conservatives, even "Truth Social" would come out in 2022. The only online social media marketed towards conservatives specifically were places like 4chan and even that's stretching it, as those places were built on libertarian ideals of anybody being allowed to post whatever they want. If you were a traditionalist, god fearing Christian, you wouldn't go to lolbertarian spaces where they allow people to post loli/shota hentai.I really don't know what qualifies as the parameters for evil that distinguishes the KF community from the rest.
For one, we still don't have the Epstein List. I'd like to archive that.
This. See the most recent 4chink migration. They wouldn't, they would easily migrate and assimilate to other spaces or create their own.
Something I've noticed is that a lot of people go and tweet stuff that, when it proves controversial, they lock the answers/mute the thread and write stuff like "My twitter is my space and I'll write what I want", as if that was a gotcha. It's like they have no notion of their tweets appearing on anyone's timeline, as if they can force you not to answer in the somewhat public space that is twitter.People put themselves on the internet with the understanding that their behaviour and their actions are done within a public space
