I was always skeptical of the handgun being too small to leave a blood splatter, but if you go frame by frame you can actually see where the bullet hit the inside of his skull and didn't escape.

Honestly it seems to me like all of the Bjork stuff was just something for him to focus his energy on, including building the acid bomb [or whatever one might call his contraption] and that maybe mailing the bomb was his way of ensuring he couldn't back out of suicide. He knew 100% whether it actually reached her or got intercepted, if he stuck around he was going to prison for a long time, presumably this would have been unacceptable to him [since he says if he gets caught while he's taking the package to be mailed out, he has his gun with him and will off himself there] so he knew that once he mailed it, there was no backing out. Not only that but the Bjork stuff is just the tip of the iceberg with this guy, it was likely all of the other problems he viewed as insurmountable that led to this but all of the stuff about Bjork was sensational and intriguing and that's what it ultimately got distilled down into in the public consciousness. The real reason for his suicide was that he was a big fat dude with Klinefelter syndrome and a dead-end job and few friends and a family that apparently didn't stop in to check on him often since his absence went unnoticed for four days until his fluids started leaking out of the apartment.

The whole "doing something crazy to keep me from backing out of suicide" phenomenon isn't uncommon, most mass shootings are first and foremost suicides. They're either doing something so horrible that they know they'll be put in prison or killing the old version of themselves in the process, this also ties into Ricardo's choice to shave his head and paint his face. He was [supposedly] trying to make it so he couldn't even recognize himself in the mirror anymore, 'shedding the old self', sort of like how mass shooters will gear up like they're fucking Delta Force before they carry out an attack. Mass murder [or in this case an attempted bombing] is usually just an accessory to suicide absent some form of political or personal motive.

It's weird to think about how his apartment sat like that for four entire days before anyone even noticed and they only noticed because he was stinkin' up the joint and blood was leaking through his front door, you can really kind of tell that nobody cared about this guy. It would almost make you pity him if he didn't try to fucking blow someone up. Strange fucking dude but I guess he has managed to cement himself in the zeitgeist considering I'm writing a comment about him almost thirty fucking years after his death. I've also always wondered how these tapes ever got out, if something like this happened today of course the person would probably be livestreaming it but that shit would never be released by the authorities. Maybe Florida's 'Sunshine Laws' had something to do with it.
 
I remember watching his tapes years ago. He was intelligent and it's sad that he ended up on this path. I think he had the potential to be a better person somewhere in there. But he just wasn't able to break free of his own head.
 
I feel like this guy was born in the wrong era, he had the makings of a weird but entertaining youtuber. There were moments in his tapes when he was genuinely funny.
 
Goddamn I remember him from years ago when I first watched his suicide video (the last 30 seconds of his last video) on LiveLeak.

Still can't understand what the fuck he yelled before shooting himself. It sounded something like "HURR DURR".

Apparently he bought a hollow-point gun. I don't live in America so I don't know if it's more affordable than a higher caliber gun. Specially back in 1996. Anyway it was a poor choice of gun.

He obviously didn't die instanly but I wonder how much pain he felt when he groaned like that before falling to the floor.

Lmao hollow point refers to the bullet, not the gun, and hollow point ammo is more lethal than the alternative full metal jacket ammo. If he used an FMJ round it probably would've made at least some splatter but he might have survived the shot.

I think what you're hearing is death rattle, that's just air escaping his lungs. Even a small caliber straight to the dome is instant death 99% of the time.

A bullet that stays inside and fragments is more lethal than one that over-penetrates.

Not a ballistics or trauma expert but I suppose Lopez aimed for the roof of his mouth which would lead the bullet straight to the brain. If that was supposed to cause instant death then why the death rattle?

I just re-watched the video and the only death rattle was right after he shot himself, he was dead by the time he hit the floor. I think everything after that was just the sound of blood pouring out of his mouth.
