I'll admit that Green Knight's the first movie I've shown interest in for a while though.

As someone who read Le Morte D'Arthur yearly, I'm interested in Green Knight as well, but a little part of me inside doesn't want it to flop.

I'm confused about why Bob is interested in this movie.

Green Knight isn't a Marvel character. He's not a comic book character at all.

With trooning, there's a question of degree. I'd deter most people, or at least suggest that they sit down and think about what they really want. In a person like sterling's case? How is trooning going to destroy their body any more than has already been done?

I will concede that there's the very rare occasion where someone truly has body dysmorphia and they get the hormone replacement and/or surgery and they're better for it like Iron Liz, Buck Angel and that Pad guy. The issue of the Holocaust being a huge deal, especially in a historical context, is that

A. It was the culmination of CENTURIES of Anti-Semitism in Europe reaching a horrific conclusion backed by what another poster described, was industrialized genocide on a massive scale

B. That Hitler came closer than anyone in those centuries of wholesale wiping out Europe's Jewish population, to the point that it made the purpose of creating a homeland for Jews in the middle east even more important in the wake of it.

C. That Hitler and his ilk did it all in about ten years and kept such detailed notes and records, that it couldn't be swept away after the fact; especially since Hitler and the Nazis made antisemitism a cornerstone of the Nazi party ideology.

Finally, the Holocaust is irrevocably tied to the end of the second world war, which make it part of the historical narrative of WW2 being the official ending of the Europe as the nexus to which the entire world revolved around. Hence it's historical importance standing-wise, because it's a cornerstone of the entire saga of World War 2.

What they forget is the the initial large step was no compromise in the first place. It is worse than the old frog-in-boiling-water lesson. You know the old wisdom: if you place a frog in boiling water it will jump out immediately, but if you place it in cool water and gradually increase the temperature, it will happily boil to death.​

While others have applied this old adage to the current debate, I think it is actually worse than what it seems. The “leap forward, hop back” is even more devious than the gradual-temperature-increase. Instead of slowly boiling the frog so that he doesn’t realize it, this strategy is like raising the heat on the frog rapidly and just before it gets to the point of jumping out, drawing the heat back a little. In this way, the frog not only boils to death without complaint, but it actually periodically thanks you for those brief moments of cool relief that you so generously offered.​

I think this is also what is not being understood in some modern debates...I think people are starting to get wise to this trick and as such are growing less inclined to compromise. Especially as often nowadays compromise defined above is of the "Well instead of getting everything I want and you getting nothing, I'll only get half of what I want (and you still get nothing)" variety. Everyone is starting to realize the compromises are still leading us in the direction we don't want to go.​

I argued with a person who wanted to abolish the electoral college a while back, they no joke said that since the cities have the largest portion of the population, then they should be allowed to decide what the rest of the country should do and that since the rural states had a smaller population, obviously the opinions of the people living there don't matter.
