I'm also not American but I'd like to add my 2¢ worth.

Being a British guy with some Finnish family I follow both UK and Finnish politics. Leftists in both the UK and Finland did support Snowden from what I remember and also supported Assange, and I remember Jeremy Corbyn (basically Bernie if he was a Brit) being up in arms when Assange got arrested.

Bob's angry because wikileaks had a hand in exposing the corruption in not only the DNC, Democratic National Convention, This was about the DNC blatantly saying they were gonna screw over Bernie Sanders during the primaries so they could force a Hilary Clinton presidency but Hilary through the Anthony Wiener hehehe emails where it was exposed that on top of seeing his bepis he was freely handing out documents that were labeled top secret that he got through Hilary and because of all of this it helped, and it did help, Trump get elected as President of the United States, the absolute worst thing to ever happen in the history of ever. We are still tripping over bodies in the streets because of Orangemanbad's right wing death squads.

But to cut the cuteness, most people were grateful to learn of what Snowden revealed. Then Trump came along and TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome, became a very real thing. There are people in America who want to continue our never ending wars sorry conflicts in the Middle East purely because Orangemanbad wants it to stop and whatever Orangemanbad wants must be bad. Trump winning office broke a very, very vocal segment of the population. Bob's just a member of that segment.

Leftists like Bob have a "you're either with us or you're against us" mindset. Assange released emails which were damaging to Hillary therefore he is their enemy. It doesn't matter that Assange wants transparency from government officials regardless of party-affiliation. He went against Hillary therefore he is the enemy.

People associated with Assange (like Snowden) are thus also automatically their enemy. Look at the original post you were replying to. You'll see that "Lass_Library" black lady on twitter essentially going "um if you post that pic of Bob dressed as Mario that aligns you with the Nazis and that's NOT a good look..." (guilt by association as someone pointed out earlier).
