He was one of the guys they made fun of how poorly he aged. There is a reason they use a bunch of movie clips instead of when he was 26. The women of HP also didn't age so well, although the woman that played Ginny has that friendly-aunt-that-used-to-be-wild look. Rowling herself looks pretty good for someone her age. Maybe the mold of her evil TERF castle keeps rejuvenating her.

On the Rowling front, she just found out she has been shut down. I must say try is a really weird verb when it is turned into a noun. But maybe it feels natural for a native speaker.

Drugs and alcohol, most likely. Both fuck up the skin and both issues tend to be prevalent among media types. There's lots of women here who age just fine (especially the gingers), but nobody notices them because they don't stand out. Then there's the fat slags who are out on the town every night in their 40s, who wrinkle up like an apple left out in the sun, but think they're still as hot as they were in their 20s (for a given value of "hot").

Trust me guize, it's just a coincidence that I singled out Harry Potter as an example of children's literature that needs to be re-examined and has traumatized young readers all of the world because of its world building.

Nobody gave a shit about the "shallow world building" of Harry Potter until Rowling pissed off trannies. Riordan is a trend chaser. You can see Harry Potter's fingerprints all over his original saga (down to the chapters certain plot points happen in) and, if you're a little too online, you'll recognize where he got the idea for everything in his sequels and spin-offs. People praise him because he's quick to bend the knee and write wherever the wind blows that week, with a good heap of internet humour on top. In that sense, he's what Rowling could have been if she had no dignity or bravery.

I don't remember him ever saying anything directly about Rowling, but that seems to speak more to his cowardice than anything else. He seems happy about his place as the "woke Rowling replacement" and he's comfortable letting his fans do the marketing work regarding it for him.

I don't know if it was just me, but when those books came out, it seemed SO. OBVIOUS. that Riordan was trying to copy the "ordinary child finds out they are extraordinary, gets whisked to a special school/camp to learn about being the special thing, gets two best friends, goes on adventures, fights the Ultimate Evil" template. Sure, it's Greek Mythology instead of Arthurian Fantasy, but you could see the underlying structure.

The fact that anyone thinks he's more original than JK Rowling, let alone a better writer, is galling.
