Stephen Fry said some silly things on a podcast.

Daily Mail article. / Archive.

I appreciate that Fry does acknowledge that she had heaps of vitriol thrown at her, but I would ask who is 'us', Stephen?

He also said something I find very interesting:

So it's okay to be wrong, to embrace misinformation and lies, in order to 'be effective', according to Fry. What does being effective entail? Castrating a whole generation of children? Luring people into the gender cult? Or just making trans and alphabet people the ruling class everywhere? Good lord Stephen Fry, shame on you.
I think he means 'troons aren't going away, so you need a solution that works for them too', as if trans people were ever trying to find a mutually beneficial solution with women. As if being trans isn't an opt-in scenario. Stephen would 100% be an MRA if he was straight, he's said things before about how women don't like sex and just use it to manipulate relationships and money out of men (because if they did like sex they'd be out rutting on hampstead heath like gay men are, no joke). She really does attract the gay men that would be mras type.

A few choo choos decided to yell at a red panda today because god forbid a zoo do a little cutsie social media post
First they go after the bunnies and now the red pandas. Who will be the next transphobic animal? Baby seals? Sugar gliders?
Stephen would 100% be an MRA if he was straight
>implying most MRAs aren't gay men in various stages of denial
because if they did like sex they'd be out rutting on hampstead heath like gay men are, no joke
I remember when I found out he said this, because I immediately went "MEN CAN'T GET PREGNANT, STEPHEN"

'Cancelling the drag queen event because the Zoo wouldn't ensure the performer's safety.'
What the fuck does that even mean? Was he planning to do his drag show in the fucking crocodile enclosure? 'Ensure the performer's safety'? It's a zoo, not fucking Green Room!

I've seen the story they are referencing, a zoo was going to do a drag queen story time for the kids but backed out while making vague claims about safety. Reading between lines it's sounds like it was actually a mix of bad pr and low interest. The safety concerns was just saving face.

'I disagree profoundly with her on this subject. I am angry she does not disavow some of the more revolting and truly horrible, destructive violently destructive things that people say. She does not attack those at all.

'She says things that are inflammatory and contemptuous, mocking and add to a terribly distressing time for trans people.
Rowling did try to take a civil approach, initially. Troons and their orbiters responded by sending her threats of rape, violence and murder, as well as by showing up where she lives at one point.

Why would she go out of her way to defend mentally disturbed people who have demonstrated time and time again that they wish nothing but violence or worse upon her?
'So I am very happy to go on the record to say that I am really angry about that. My view about all things of sharp and difficult nature is that is is much more important to be effective than to be right.'
If a pooner masquerading as a gay man hit up Stephen on Grindr, he would effectively get access to sex. Though, something tells me he wouldn't be interested in going down on her manclit, I mean true and honest dick.

I fully endorse drag queen story hour extending to "reading to crocodiles".

This is of course the same Stephen Fry who, as they say, likes them young.
The very same Stephen Fry who, apropos of discussing that while speech is nice you must BE KIND, launched in to "Where is your sympathy for the stunning and brave trans children?" on Triggernometry, of all places, earlier this year:
If the video doesn't pop there immediately, it's around the 20:50 mark.

They are a constant firehose of death and rape threats, but Heavens to Murgatroyd Joanne, won't you think of the stunning and brave cross dressing boys who will kill themselves if we won't let them creep on girls in the locker rooms? By gosh, think of all the competitions they'll never win if they are forced to compete against their peers!

I didn't know these are his views. Somehow I thought he is generally on Rowling's side and never bothered to check. I should have known. Well, yet another disappointment. Go sleep with a pooner and tell us all how much a heckin valid man she is, Stephen.
It's been a trip to watch people who say they are on the side of reality to run right off into cloud cuckoo land. A lot of them being the same people who once said that speaking the truth should take precedence over comforting lies but are now firmly on the side of BE KIND. Remarkable how BE KIND just doesn't apply to certain groups. Chapelle, while he CAN say naughty words, he really just oughtn't. Athena Lilith Zoey Asia Sparkles Unicorn Rainbows just being a human sewer pipe spewing out horrifying garbage at every women who steps out of line? Where is your sympathy for these stunning and brave trans children in their time of suffering, JOANNE?

He was, but I suspect his recent dalliances with the GCs and the free speech movement have seen his work opportunities drying up - or perhaps have led to people in the know threatening to out his past sins. I can't be certain, but I feel he shifted gears after Neil Gaiman's scandals broke.

You'd think he's old and established enough that he doesn't need to worry about work opportunities. Other (less popular) writers or actors have spoken in support of Rowling and still get work. Maybe he just is that spineless and desperate to be liked, but I also can believe that there are some scandals lurking about.
