RPGnet Forums

42, if the info I found in my initial dox was accurate. You are correct that the diehard regulars skew older than expected, I think in past polls they've done most posters are somewhere between mid/late 40s and late 50s. Younger than 30 is a definite minority.
Quoting my own post because I'm narcissistic like that, but here are the two Age polls I was able to find:

Latest poll was from 2019 so tack on a couple more years onto these numbers.

Speaking of bans, Tanka the magic faggot no longer appears to be a mod.

Wonder what was up with that.
That's interesting. He was possibly the worst of the mods on the site and completely insufferable even by rpgnet standards. Probably he just finally got on someone's last nerve with his incessant smug bullshit. Or resigned from being too triggered by seeing left-wing opinions that weren't entirely commie.

It seems the last time Tanka was on the site was in April, and the last public post he made was in February. Could be an amicable stepdown, but there could be drama behind the scenes (given it's RPGnet, I'd be surprised if it wasn't).

Hear ye, hear ye! Court is now in session!

In the case of RPGNet vs. Satine Phoenix & Jamison Stone, present the charges!

They are insufficiently contrite in their apology and associate with our enemies! Guilty!

Oh, are you upset by this struggle session, comrade?

You're right, this isn't a trial. We're just acting as judge, jury, and executioner. I'm sure this will never be used against us, because we're the Good Guys.

I had an intense moment of deja vu when I read that post about judging based on hearsay+it's replies. Probably could have copied it verbatim from the last rpg industry #metoo thread.

It's also funny how every time an industry notable gets outed everyone scrambles to state how much they don't know them and they've never listened to any of their podcasts or associated with them in any way.

Hoes and pimps turning out to be massive dirtbags wouldn't be the surprise of the century either. You look at these two fine specimens, and instinctively know they are trouble. It is not profound moral judgement, just stuff anyone can recognize at first glance.

Try it in RPGNet court, though, and you'll be hanging next to them once they are done with it.

Looks like the sort of wedding where the gift bags include free tubes of K-Y Jelly.

It's one of the things that makes me loath RPG.net and its ilk a lot.

I for example will still freely admit that I believe Matt Macfarland produced a good book with Demon and Beast, despite it basically being his magical realm incarnate, has good elements to it.

Doesn't change that by many accounts he is a sexual predator. But I will not change my opinion of those because of that even if I do feel like scrubbing with a wire brush when doing so.

However prior to that being confirmed RPG.net and the like defended the shit out of Beast because it seemed to be targeting the right enemies and promoting the right groups (LGBTQ etc).

Much like the ever popular webcomic noting how predators conceal themselves (as male feminists) it was clear from the get go that Beast was creepy as shit. But because at the time it was by someone deemed to be one of the good guys using the shroud of the protected groups they defended it way past the point alarm bells should have been ringing. And as soon as the truth comes out or the people in question start to get dragged by the mob they all try to deny doing so.

I quite liked Demon, it was fucked up crazy weird but in the good way. It actually interested me. Beast on the other hand was much too on the nose as a faggy kid revenge fantasy that really made the protagonists into rapist-analogues and tried to handwave it away as 'teaching lessons' to their victims. Uh huh. Look, if I'm gonna play a monster that eats people, giving some noble justification for it defeats the purpose. At least the vampires are up front about treating humans as walking capri-sun bags.

Demon is pretty awesome. Beast I have read the Fatal And Friends review that shows the before and after and my biggest takeaway is the same as yours with an added degree of "Heroes could have been the new Technocracy" as ambiguous bad guys.

If there's one thing I have to give RPGnet jannies credit for, it's that their rules are consistent and they don't move goalposts for anyone, not even other jannies.

My big take from beast is the author somehow missed the point if beauty and the beast and heroes: the blank is a better concept.

On the bright side the concept of pedo godzilla is a now meme on our gaming circles.

"The monsters path is erratic.....it seems like he can't go within 50 metres of a school."

That whole Ezra Miller thread is a roller coaster ride. Thread goes from reflexively defending their precious they/them to "actually they/them's a hero for rescuing that non-binary teen (who's 18 so its not grooming ok) from their transphobic parents" to "wow this dude's an unstable psycho but don't misgender they/them ok that is not acceptable".

It's hilarious when they have to tie themselves in knots due to these sorts of conflicts of interest.
