Do people actually make that argument??

The only actual high profile incident I remember is Stephen Fry running his mouth about Polish Catholicism being scary for people who remember which side of the border Auschwitz was on. That was a long time ago, but there's been an increase in people claiming that Holocaust in Eastern Europe was really the work of locals and that Nazis only helped. Mostly by academics (Benjamin Frommer comes to mind as a culprit) and various local progressives who use it as an argument for why Eastern Europe is barbarians who need to accept the civilizing LGBTQ+ influence.

I've heard that, I think. It's just an excuse for the wokies to continue cramming dieversity down people's throats; the amount of shit I hear fags spew about why "Europe NEEDS to get rid of its traditions so they don't offend anybody", "Europe NEEDS to have less/no white people in it", "Europe NEEDS to be more open with pride and less tolerant of the breederz", etc., makes me, somewhat ironically, tolerate their shit less and less.

Is it colonization or white supremacy to push the civilizing LGBTQ+ influence on the Middle East or Sub-Saharan Africa?

Anywho, more bans for not being opposed enough to racism.

I'd say nearly every time Stephen Fry is part of a controversy it's because he's said something reasonable from the left of centre and the progressives, who have hated him for a very long time, tear into him. Even when he says something they agree with, like whatever it was last week where he said something like men in general want to have sex more than women, as can be seen by the myriad of ways gay men have figured out to have sex even when it's literally putting their life in danger. A whole bunch of people who would find the statement 'the male sex drive is generally stronger than the female sex drive' too weak all of a sudden attacking him for misogyny.

There's a few forums - like ResetEra, MetaFilter, Something Awful - which do this same thing, but I think RPGnet is actually the worst for it. That thing being, 'If a minority says something is bad, then it's bad. Doesn't matter if every other member of that minority group disagrees - you're only allowed to believe the ones who are upset.' In this case it's racism, but they do it for every ism, and I think it's particularly bad at RPGnet because it always boils down to trying to control how you play pretend. Even ResetEra is talking about a product that is more fixed, in terms of a computer game. But RPGnet rejects the idea that you can even take the good parts and leave the bad parts - no, you have to reject the whole thing as being bad and wrong when you play with your friends or you're evil.

It's a highly fucked-up perspective that has led to a lot of the worst idpol nonsense of Current Year, but they are also attempting to police people's imaginations, inspirations and the stories they tell with friends. And they think they're the good ones.

They’re not fooling anybody. Even if the writer had done “better” research, no way would they be okay with some white guy writing a book on another culture.

Has RPGNet banned discussion of D&D yet? It's nothing but a raft of problematic parts.
No because a wholesale ban would preclude further struggle sessions about how vampires are antisemitic stereotypes or how using undead in your campaign is encouraging violence against young black men. The controversy is the point because that's how you shave that line between "good people" and "fascists" a little finer.

Exactly. If everybody agrees, then everybody is equally good. The mods can't prove they're better than everybody unless there's something to disagree about.

Hugbox Kommissar makes a good point. There is also a personal reason. The regulars who built the forum culture were mostly White Wolf theater kids who never liked D&D. The whole reason they have a separate subforum for it is because the rest of their membership couldn't stop shitting on the game in every single D&D thread. Attitudes have softened over time, but you still have this lingering resentment over it, which bleeds into the way it is both discussed and moderated. It is not a taboo subject, but it is a vaguely D&D-hostile place. They have similar attitudes to other popular systems like Rifts as well.

Seriously, what "evil" races are even left in the fucking game at this point? If every race is supposed to be some wokie stand-in, then what the hell are the villains supposed the be? Regular humans?

Wait, do people actually believe vampires are depictions of Jews? I'm only aware of this scene from a film:

Wait, do people actually believe vampires are depictions of Jews?

I think it's more that Jews are often depicted as vampires, from both the metaphorical bloodsucking of usury and the quite literal bloodsucking of the old story that Jews use Christian blood to leaven their Passover bread. Either way, that's surely much too nuanced a distinction for the RPG.net types, who would most likely be all too eager to file away yet another uncomfortable edge in what is, allegedly, their hobby.

It's honestly amazing to me a site can have such absolutely shit moderation and still even be in existence. It honestly makes RetardEra look sane.

Maybe it's a long-term experiment. "What if a hobby forum were designed by Franz Kafka writing 'The Trial,' and what if Kafka were retarded?"
