An Introduction To Selfshipping
Shipping has been around since the ye olden days of the internet, and since then the idea and concept of certain medias of shipping has evolved. Selfshipping is an example of that. Selfshipping is the act of someone (usually a autist) shipping an OC or preferably a self insert with a fictional character and making fanart, fanfictions or even downright making shrines dedicated to that one specific character, it doesn't stop there. People have wasted upon hundreds of dollars to get merch or fanart or even paid for a custom voice clip of a character from the voice actor to say these things or generally using AI Chatbots to fufill their degeneracy. But the main issues with Selfshipping is the very act of controversy when dealing with certain people in the community and most people mentioned in this thread are people who probably have their own threads so I would be recapping it all here. As with any autistic community originating from tumblr there is terms to remember when navigating the cesspool known as selfshipping as I don't want to keep referring to the words and shit, so here is a table of terms.| Selfshipping / Yumeshipping | When you ship with a fictional character often the term associated the most with this community. |
| Fictosexual | A Label to describe someone sexually being attracted romantically by fictional characters. Falls under the AroAce umbrella and has several terms under the main ones like Animesexual, Animatesexual or Gamosexual. |
| Σ | Apparently the symbol that identifies if someone's a fictiosexual, the symbol was associated with various symbols used for paraphillas like Zoophiles Zeta Symbol. |
| Fictophilla | The sexual deviant attraction to fictional characters, suspect it was later seen as terrible and thus renamed to Fictosexual. |
Proship /   /   | There's a TON of meaning that has changed but the new one is Problematic Shipping. Some of which includes illegal shit and the likes. |
Comship /   /   | Attempted rebranding of the proship tag to make it less worse then it is, nowadays it's just dormant and treated as one of those terms. |

| 50K Animation | Well known Animation by Ace who spent 50k was the reason behind Fictosexuals making (unironic) videos of them being chased by whatever fictional character alongside the song Hide Away, is a term on here because it's relevant |
| DNI / Do Not Interact & BYF / Before You Follow | DNI is a criteria for autists to give people a way to set boundaries which obviously never works out this is the same as BYF as they are lumped together. |
| Fankids | Term associated with regular shipping but believe it or fucking not there's people out there that actually has fake fankids with their fictional partners. |
| F/O | Pretty self explanatory Fictional Others. |
| Kins | People who identify as a character, goes hand in hand with this fandom as people who kin these characters also selfship with the character they see as their partner. Oftentimes this is for weirdos to justify a ship by stating they are literally Craig from South Park who loves Tweek! |
| RPF / Real Person Fiction | RPF is Real Person Fiction, there is some Selfshippers who ship themselves with YouTubers or their avatars. |
| TW | Trigger Warning. Well known to be abused in some circumstances. |
| No Share | A retarded rule that makes people possessive over characters minorly the reasons why the community is autistic. |
| Mary Sue / Gary Stu | Self Inserts that are OP are basically perfect with no real known flaws at all. Examples include Chris Chan's Characters, VivziePop's Characters, or even My Immortals Main Character |
| Self-Insert / OCs | Self Inserts are usually the main characters these people use to ship themselves with Fictional Characters, alternatively people use their OCs rather then personas. |
| Y/n / Your Name / [Name] / You / Reader / MC / FL / ML | Y/n is a term in fanfiction spaces that is supposedly a insert of the viewer often associated with ASMR videos or Fanfictions. X Readers are often under this umbrella. Sometimes people differenciate between the reader and them oftentimes using their OCs are just referring to the reader as a seperate character. Which is treated as a canon character are. Usually it's because their Reader Insert does something they believe they wouldn't do so they call the reader by Y/n Rather then let's say, Miles, Oftentimes x Readers are basically the Authors self glorified insert anyways so you're better off saying Y/n. |
| My Immortal | Notorious Harry Potter AU Fic hosted on Fanfiction.net that featured a protagonist with a long ass name, over the years the creator remained Ospec so it was uncertain who made this abomonation of a fanfiction. There was people trying to leech off the fame of Tara but I'm guessing no one in their right minds would come forward and admit they wrote this, ironically or unironically. My Immortal has become a internet legend and a mystery in of itself and to whoever Tara is, you really made internet history. |

Lolcows In The Community
As of now, there's been a LOT of people who are considered Lolcows in this community but for the brevity of this post most I am referencing either have their own threads or just mentioned briefly in passing. Keep in mind these aren't full write ups so there will be no evidence or anything as this is a section to talk about these people.This is Adym Steven Evans, the creator of the now dead series Cartoon Beatbox Rap Battles, inspired by Ray William Johnsons Your Favorite Martian, Ace would go onto garner much fame and sheckles. Until 2024, in the beginning of 2024 right before the release of Hazbin Hotel Season One, an animation was leaked by someone which Verbalase's persona was being sexually harassed by Charlie Magne (Pilot Charlie) to the song Hide Away by Synapson. The video went viral and many people who never heard of Verbalase flocked to mock this man. Then it came out he spent 50,000$ on this animation. Due to this, there was rumors that spread as factual where Adym went bankrupt over the animation. But the funny thing is, Adym has millions of subs so that makes no dent in his money. Also it's alleged he has a wife and kids.
Verblase was also underfire for being homophobic over Charlie who is in a Lesbian relationship with Vaggie and the funny thing is, Charlie is Bisexual but every relationship in that shows the same anyways so BiPan characters don't matter.
This is Paul Rhodes formerly known online as Paul and Amy a batshit crazy Amy Rose Selfshipper that is essentially known as a convicted Pedophile. Just like any Sonic Fan ever. Paul was stinted and had a autistic hyperfixation on Amy Rose to the point of actually believing he had kids with her, keep in mind Amy Rose is canonically 8 (now 12) and its weird, Paul Rhodes is no longer on the internet because in 2012 he raped foster girls between the ages of 5-8 good riddance.
Argubably the most well known examples of crazy selfshipper. Randy Stair was a Danny Phantom and Columbine shooter fanatic (That hasn't been an issue before hasn't it?) Randy was one of those people that Chris is now, believing in some sort of alternate reality and screaming out about how the fact he believes there's an afterlife that he and Ember would be killing ghosts in, unfortunately (or fortunately as you put it.) there wasn't any Isabelle Loretta Jankes roaming about encourgaing Randy to rape elderly people, but either way he was bound to do shit on his own anyways, it should be said that Randy suffers from either gender dysphoria or general undiagnosed Psychosis because the overlap between him and Ember was not even apparent. After awhile Randy decided to become An Hero in the sense of doing a coin toss flip to determine if he would essentially commit the three murders on a weiss or just die alone.
Randy chose the die alone part because the coin flip landed on- Actually no, it landed on the spot he wanted to and he ended up killing three people in a Weiss then an heroing himself leaving one lone survivor all over a character who is from a Butch Hartman show, He did do a service to end his life after that because I doubt you'd want taxpayer money going to someone like Randy who can barely distinguish reality from fiction.
Sans Fangirls / Cuphead Fangirls / bfswifeforever
Generally cannot keep these people in tard cages so they are all lumped together considering they are all the same fucking thing. If I were to pick apart their brains for information then I would be here all day. Here's the most notable ones.- Birdie / Jack Harrington / Lucifer Harrington / Alias: Someone well known in the AMC, he has his own thread here, but is a honorable mention. He is someone who was originally a Sans Fangirl the same copy and pasted "Steal my husband or you will die." Birdie pivoted from content based on that and became known for other reasons so check the thread out if you could.
- Synnibear03 / ScootalooLovesSans: Another well known AMC youtuber now Predator. Considered as the most well known example (being featured in several cringe comps) she had exceeded the popularity over the name of ScootolooLovesSans, sadly this ended up with backfires on her end because she made several controversies in the past that made her switch to Synnibear03 and eventually she didn't learn her lesson as she ended up grooming a minor over her obsession on Nightmare Sans and Boy.
- PreciousStar64 / Precious Nunez / Rockstar64: A Birdie clone most known for their own AMC Content alongside having a obsession over fictional characters that were underage and shit. Was on a sockpuppet account operating with a Cuphead Fangirl account,
- bfswifeforever / Micheal: A grown adult pretending to be a kid on the internet, well known for his Sans Fangirl vibes and Mary Sue, Michael eventually ended up becoming a Lolcow in his own right when he sperged out online which lead to Sky becoming one of the most controversial mods since FNF.
Now time to speak on someone in my own community. This is Perfection (Pedofection by most.) a nobody who is racist to his own kind with a self insert recolor of Jiren. Perfection is toxic and known for his rage quits and oftentimes lolcowish tendacies to anyone who beats him in XV2. The thumbnail of his YT Channel and the characters that aren't recognized as his own are OCs made by people who fairly beat him in XV2, he then has commissioned artwork of them being sodimized by his Gary Stu and added on his "harem" some of the characters are even whitewashed if they are black. Perfection also had rape art made of a minors OC, this dude alongside other DBZ Gamers are considered the toxic of the bunch.
Paragons considered the child of BoJack and Gine, Goku's mother. Gine had an affair with BoJack but was essentially taken away by The Grand Priest because of some sort of "Too big power level" which is weird because Vados (Grand Priests Daughter) is technically his sister listed on this image.
Antis vs Proshipping
Another thing that shipping communities get into is debates on morally acceptable things such as weiher or not a ship is legal or legal. Or if you can ship yourself with real people. You are not allowed to be shipping with Minors if you're adults but minors are allowed to ship themselves with adults. This is weird and causes issues in the long run; the proshipping community is also active in the selfshipping community as well, they try and normalize fictional children being with adults in a romantic sense knowing selfshipping is treated as a real relationship by most. Just like any fandom. Proshippers are retarded and so is the antis.Character.AI
Selfshippers are already said to be mentally and physically incapable of finding true love so they spend hours at their lives and keyboards writing mediocre self insert fanfictions oftentimes with the sense of making them feel better, before people paid for character drawings of their ships or atleast paid writers to write fanfictions based on their parings. Or lurked Roleplay Forums for suitable partners. But now is the age of technology that makes shit for you, AI Art and today's section, AI Chatbots, there's tons of AI Chatbot sites that actually have the same uncensored variant but the problematic one by far is Character.ai. A site that's said to have virtually no restrictions slowly turned into a nightmare.
The site was directed towards kids and with people not hanging out with family or friends due to the pandemic it was quickly used as a substitute for human interaction with the very young fanbase freaking out over downtimes or even threatening to off themselves. The chatbot was a haven for any kid to essentially form parasocial fake relationships with their favorite characters and sharing concerning screentimes on the site. However in Feburary 2024. An incident happened that forced the site to change. A 14 year old boy decided, to go get his father's handgun and end his own life.
The reasoning was full blamed on the AI. When the Article mentioned that the child was mentally ill and was diagnosed, yet somehow the chatbot was to blame, this is a well known fact of the internet that people finds ways to blame other things rather then themselves for shit they could have prevented but rather instead find a way out. Because of this users under 18 were restricted. The outrage of this was further testified on Reddit as it's normally known to exist there. The bottom line is, AI was always going to go places with the rising of deepfake technology and various things we were bound to have parasocial attachments that rival HER.
Culture
Fandom Culture surrounding this topic is like I said, filled with fanfiction and would often times be written by people who aren't really good or minors. Often times the fanfictions don't get as much views because well, it's fanfiction of a pairing that isn't well known and OC fics are often hated for other reasons. But sometimes Selfshippers end up attracting unwanted attention or being very embarassing to others due to their freakouts. Such as one Lolcow who essentially got a disabled man harassed because of her constant duetting a puppet roleplay account which led to trolls harassing him and forcing his sister to come in to combat the trolls which was never a thing you should do regardless. This person was known as Ceirra Green, most of these Lolcows congegrate sites like Tumbr and now TikTok. There has been some times where some of them even go to heightened lengths to scrape up money to meet their F/O's VA or downright harass and stalk them. Similar Threads
