Yeah. I think we underestimate how fucked Shad is for life. Now his name is linked in a "reputable" (and I use that term loosely) news article that calls him a pedophile and a Nazi (only one of these is actually true). His real name is well known and it's uncommon so it's the first thing that comes up when you Google him. Shad can never hold a regular job again. He can probably never cross a border again. If he's applying for a loan, or trying to rent an apartment, or going out with a girl (that he doesn't grab from a playground), or anything the first thing that comes up are articles calling him a pedophile. Shaddai Prejean's name is, for all intents and purposes, on a sex offender registry, which is by far the worst part of most sexual offense convictions.

Shadbase is essentially his only option to support himself at this point. That and relying on his friends, who seem more and more distant. Shad used to livestream with Sleepycabin people regularly. He doesn't anymore. He's being driven inward, to his Discord friends, who are true degenerates and have nowhere near the mainstream legitimacy or exposure. And even if he does still have good relationships with his peers, he can't rely on the ol' Game Grumps welfare check that others in the Newgrounds circlejerk can rely on (see Oney, Ross, etc) since the advertisers would never allow that.

Meanwhile, look at everyone else around him. Psychicpebbles is probably going to have a show picked up soon. Oney is working on a pilot and has a fairly popular Let's Play channel (again, basically gifted to him by Egoraptor.) Spazkid and Mick Lauer are working on a game with Tom Fulp. Stamper is high up in the Behemoth in San Diego. Everyone is moving forward but him. His moment of brief popularity that came from being linked to other more popular and more talented content creators is starting to collapse.

In short, I think Shad is panicking. And if he's not, he should be.

How the mighty can (predictably) fall. This is what happens when one takes their edge to the skies and when the shit hits the fan, wonder why said edge causes so much damage to not only themselves but also to both their connections and their future.
It was bound to happen sooner or later, we all should have seen it in 2013. Shad himself should have foreseen his reputation going in fucking flames in 2013. But he needs the site revenue, instead of, I don't know branching out elsewhere where you WON'T be labelled a pedo just by showing up there. There's more to art than titillation.

His distant friends have proved it by moving on, so there's not much of an excuse for him to remain other than finance.

Didn't know how well the rest of those guys were doing, but I'm not too surprised they're moving onward and upward. That tends to happen when you're not a degenerate who draws thinly veiled child porn.

I actually don't completely understand why he doesn't commit to being a complete degenerate who tries to push the first amendment as far as he can before getting a jail sentence. This is actually what I thought his goal was before he started backpedaling.

It boggles my mind he didn't think pornography of real children was "too far" when he drew it. But the fallout seems to be bothering him quite a bit.
