Sneedforo & Reactions: The Future of Stickers

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I don’t mind how it works right now. Showing the top 3 and a quick view of who recently applied a sticker is fine.

Personally, I am very glad that the public sticker score is gone. I would want to engage in conversation but often not do so because I wanted to maintain my 12:1 ratio. It was silly but I doubt I’m the only one. Maybe a scoring system hidden behind the scene that gives us some more life on the “reaction score” other than just positive or negative. Different tiers? For example and if going by some hidden sticker score behind the scene, someone like AnOminous who had an insane score could have a gilded reaction score that says something positive about his posting habits. Someone with a pink triangle who does nothing but sperg and farm negative reactions could have a blood red reaction score title that reads “FAGGOT” or something equally damning. New accounts could have a probationary period before their scores are tallied.

I think we should be able to have the community suggest and vote on new stickers. Stickers should also be able to be abolished by a community referendum whereby that sticker can no longer be given, but isn't removed from the system so you can still see them on old posts.

Start with a blank slate aside from a generic "like", then let the set evolve into a unique KF-designed constellation that consists mostly of ways to call each other pedophiles.

One of the largest projects I have in mind is how I want to handle thread OPs.
I was actually just thinking about this the other day after bullying a ween. It's pretty easy to miss developments in threads you don't follow, so I was wondering about a wiki system for OPs where they can be edited based on some reaction score threshold. For example, if you have made at least 1% of a thread's posts and those posts are at least 90% positively received, you can propose updates to the OP, or something like that.

About the stickers, why not just keep them as they are but change the display to a bar showing the percent of each reaction received, with a list of usernames on hover? So 33% of the bar would be Informative, 20% would be Winner, 3.14% would be MatI, etc. It wouldn't take up any more vertical space and it'd immediately show people exactly how good or shitty a post is while keeping the character we all know and love.

The existing "summary" display can be reused for phoneposters whose viewport is too narrow to display such a reaction bar. Let them tap a small icon and wait for an Ajax call during a DDoS attack like the cucks they are.

Too many reactions would be bad though, there's no reason to react with '🔃' or most emojis.
I give this post a 🎳 rating and think the way XenForo renders emoji as raster images is fundamentally retarded.

Maybe this isn’t the right place to ask this but can someone explain what the numbers beside each reaction mean?

I received Semper Fidelis six times, not 340,256 times. I thought maybe 340,256 was a multiple of the number of times I got the reaction, but that doesn’t make sense to me either.

Oh, and total reactions (All) is beside a number that is less than the sum of the other numbers besides the reactions.

I’m just a bit confused about where these numbers come from. Could someone explain this mechanism to me?

Scrambled numbers, they have no meaning.

I’m not sure if this is the right thread to post on but what do you guys think of FlaskBB? I’ve never used it before but looking at the screenshots it kind of looks okay & it’s open source. It is made on Python however which I’m not sure if it’s a downside.

I'm not using anything made in python
Any reason as to why?

Btw, if you are using Linux, half the software your OS if running is written in Python.

Also, update your fucking Let's Encrypt certificates. LE wiki describes how to install auto-renew service.

Certbot is a retarded nigger, the only time I used certbot was with mail-in-a-box and it appeared to be wrongly rewriting my nginx configs and re-installing new certs with new names instead of just replacing the old invalid ones with the new valid ones and letting me point all my services to those paths. That would have been easy and actually worked so obviously we have to do some retarded (((rube goldberg))) crap instead.

It was additionally not bothering to update the configs for any of the actual mail services and was only updating nignx, except the mail services also need the up to date cert chain to do their TLS stuff. So they didn't even do their own gay retarded config-rewriting strategy properly. Anyway at some point the actual mail stuff fell behind and caused thunderbird to start freaking out and it took forever to figure out what specifically happened as I at that point did not really understand certs because niggerbot was supposed to help me. So I just learned how certs actually work like I should have to begin with and its not actually that hard to do manually.

Also eventually the auto renewal broke for no apparent reason and trying to update the tool didn't fix it

Also the manual mode started refusing to work too for no apparent reason at some point

If you have never used something then dont claim it solves a problem.

I can't believe you stupid fucks suggest this every week and have for years. Not even any curiosity why the forum is the way that it is
I had read the OP and a few of your posts from the last couple pages, but I don't understand any of the technical stuff behind the site. As far as the stylings on offer for reactions go (within the limitations you'd brought up) I think what the site currently has sounds the best next to the discord option, though I'd understood there's a limitation to how many categories of reactions can be displayed before being truncated. Speaking of, how does the site pick which ones to cut off and which ones to keep? Does it just go by the top 3 most-clicked for a particular post? It sometimes feels kind of random but I was curious.

*meekly*
It's a good idea tho. But it should be positive, like +2.
